I think England does have the potential to be world champion. It has a generation of very talented players, experience in major tournaments and a very competitive league that helps the development of its players.
However, having potential does not guarantee the title. In the World Cups, there is usually a lot of pressure, and small details make the difference in decisive games. Teams such as Argentina, France, Germany, Brazil or Spain are also starting out as very strong candidates.
If England manages to maintain consistency, take advantage of the quality of its squad and manage the pressure of the final stages well, it can undoubtedly go a long way and even lift the cup.

I really liked England, a fluid team, always attacking, and for me, they had the best manager of the World Cup, with one of the best benches after France. I want to see them play again

England could be world champions, but it depends on a lot of things. Timing is the most important thing. It doesn't matter if you play well in the first few games if you're tired by the end.

Beautiful reasoning! 😉

Absolutely. England has the talent, depth, and experience to win a World Cup. When you look at their squad, there are top players in almost every position, many of them competing at the highest level in Europe.

The question has never really been about quality—it's about consistency in the biggest moments. England have often had strong teams but fallen short in knockout matches due to small mistakes, missed chances, or penalties.

If they can handle the pressure and peak at the right time, they are definitely among the countries capable of becoming world champions. The talent is there; now it's about delivering when it matters most. ⚽🏆

I totally agree... ⚽✌️

I hope so. I don't think it's out of the question, but there are big challenges. We haven't delivered historically with good squads for the past few decades , with the usual pattern being strong performance in the group stages, followed by elimination when we first top level team in the knockout phase. The pressure and expectation seems to have been a problem for the players.

There is enough talent again this year, and a good manager, so we will see. As always , I will simply be happy with good performances from that 'has a go'.

This World Cup has shown that anything can happen. Spain's draw was a surprise; of the more renowned teams, I think Germany, France, and Argentina have a better chance of winning.

These really are the hottest selections of the moment!

England do not have the quality or talent that they have had in past, but they have a manager that has pick a squad of players that everyone in it has a reason/roll/job to do (no players there for no reason), he has a plan A,B,C,D and even an E and F.
Weather this is good enough to win it only time will tell.

On the contrary, my friend, he has the talent to beat anyone, and it was a good move to appoint Tuchel as coach.

We do have the talent, but not all of it is there - the manager chose to leave a few names at home opting instead for players in good form. Still, players like Bellingham, Saka, Rice and Kane are ones that most big teams would be in happy to have.

I'd say the difference might be that the talent in the team is more concentrated in a few key players, while the 2006 team had more talent in depth.

What midfield was that of 2006 in? ⚽

Lampard, Gerrard, Hargreaves, Beckham and Barry. They were excellent players, most of them stars at their clubs. If pushed , I'd say that the 2006 midfield was better, but again we've left players like Palmer and Foden at home, so that is by choice. The manager is reasoning that while form may very well be temporary and class permanent, the world cup is now.

Timazo, however, Gerrard and Lampard were never included in the English national team!

There might be something lost in translation. They both very much were in the 2006 England WC Squad, as part of extensive international careers for England. They never played well together , something many believed might have been the cause of that team's underachievement, which is maybe what you were trying to say?

I saw the Netherlands the other day, they were outstanding attacking. I think they'll challenge, but I'm not convinced they'll hold up consistently against the strongest opposition - I'd be happy if I'm wrong about that.

I agree it was a good move to appoint Tuchel as coach.

The point I was making is that in the past England had more talent but it was not used in the best way, too much quality in the same position and player forced to play in the wrong position just to have them in the team.

Tuchel has pick his squad so he has more options if needed;
4 pacey wide men play 2 switch to the other 1 or 2 after 60-70mins
Need a goal bring on Ivan toney and drop Harry Kane back into the number 10 position
Still need a goal bring on Dan Burn to play upront with Toney and Kane and go 3 at the back. Get a goal and Burn can go back into a back 4.
Ball over the top is the best way to get at the opposition then start with Watkins and Rodgers use Kane and Bellingham from the bench.
Opposition Centre backs or Defence midfielder gets booked use Eze late on to run at them.
