I love Ali but have you seen him lately? It is sad, let him keep his dignity, unfortunately it would just be embarrassing freak show😡

Thompson also won back to back Golds in one of the toughest events going, he should certainly be in the mix

I agree Thompson did great but Redgrave won back to back to back to back to back golds, the first Olympian ever to do that 🙂

Ping pong was invented on the dining tables of England in the 19th century and it was called wiff waff. There I think you have the essential difference between us and the rest of world. Other nations, the French, looked at a dining table and saw an opportunity to have dinner. We looked at a dining table and saw an opportunity to play wiff waff. That is why London is the sporting capital of the world.

this should have been in my OP

Yeah certainly, thought I'd mentioned itt that Redgrave should be the stonewall choice but apparently not. Just saying Thompson has a legit shout

all i can think throughout this pre-show on bbc is im so glad that this isnt on itv where adrian chiles would inevitably be presenting it

Might do a write up of the opening ceremony depending on how much time I get tomorrow but if not...

Sums it up

As expected not even close to th quality of the Beijing opening ceremony.

well thats to be expected seeing as messing up in london doesnt mean your family gets shot

e: plus, money

Yea like I said completely didn't expect it to be close to that quality, one of the best spectacles I've ever seen.

thought it was much better than Beijing to be honest, Beijing had some amazing stuff (and great CGI) but alot of it was "look how many people we can get doing the same thing)

i thought ours actually told a story without a commentator having to explain wtf is going on

paul mcartney was bobbins tbh

Knowing both the English and French cuisine I totally understand why wiff waff wasn't invented in France.

Thanks to the little red button (on the remote) im now watching the 5 1/2 hour mens cycling with no interruptions - adverts, gymnastics, rowing or anything else.
