Is Mental Toughness More Important Than Physical Talent in Professional Sports? What do you think?

Generally speaking yes, hit the gym for sometime and try to get over yourself each time...you will see mind is the main blocker.

Absolutely. If you look at most professional sports, the superstars are not necessarily the best athletes. Most will agree that Serena Williams was the greatest women's tennis player, but, as you can see from her current TV commercials for a weight loss product, she could have been in better shape physically. Years ago, Diego Maradona was great, as is Messi today...are they the best athletes physically?...probably not. In basketball, Michael Jordan was in super shape, but so were most NBA players. Jordan refused to lose...his mind was his greatest asset. Wayne Gretzky was not the best skater, but he had a knack of anticipating where the action was going...the best players have that sixth sense; that's what sets them apart from the excellent human specimens they faced in competition.

If your body feels well, your mind can work better. So you need to stay in form I would say. But there's no use working out everyday three hours - that won't advance you mentally - it might even degrate you mentally 🙂)

your mind and the capabilities of it are a tremendous thing if you can train yourself to utilize it the best possible way, or it can be the most detrimental thing youve ever experienced also, mentality, hard work/work ethic is far superior to god gifted talents solely.

I'd take talent over mental toughness as players change every few years ..that win now mentality is more important and sports psychology can help build in the other

The mind is so powerful for good and bad. Some great sports people failed with far more talent than others.
