I think it is. People don't realize how hard it is to drive one of those cars around at very high speeds for hours. Some people may say it's a skill, but it's a "different" kind of sport.
 
Pushing a gas pedal and steering to the left is not a sport.
 
I would say its a competition, not a sport. I mean it began as a bunch of moonshiners trying to drive as fast as they could to outrun the feds and now, the biggest difference is people pay to see it, and corporatioins sponsor it.
 
In Horse Racing the horse is who gets the credit as the athlete. So why not mark jimmy johnson jeff gordon the busches as "nascar jockeys" and award the trophies to the m&m car?

I agree with this but some people say chess is a sport. If everyone thinks that logic, it is a sport.

Btw nice dalton avatar, and where do you live in cincy? I live in West Chester. WHO DEY!!
 
I think it is more of a sport than curling.
 
I'd call it a sport. Just not one that I have any interest in.

This. It requires great skill and physical endurance. Its not my cup of tea however.

Yes it's a sport as much as chess or poker or harness racing or etc. is a sport. Is it an athletic contest, not so much but still it does require more physical preparation to go 500 laps at Bristol than a lot of other sports.
 
I say yes, on the grounds that I acknowledge F1, WRC and all other "superior" (sorry NASCAR fans) forms of motor racing as sport, so I guess NASCAR has to be included too.
 
Yes it is... The skill the drivers need is way up there.
 
I hate it, but it is a sport, just the same way poker is a sport, a sport is a showing of physical and or mental skill in a game format if I do believe haha. we looked it up a few months back but its something like that

Poker is not, has not been & will never be a sport.

I say it is due to the fact of how fit the drivers have to be.

OF COURSE It is a sport that is clear, there are Colombian participates juan pablo montoya, this character was formerly in formula 1 and when I finish his career in Formula One step ala Nascar
 
Yes, the athletes should prepare like any other sport, both physically, mentally and trill their skills with the instrument of work.
