Yeah it's dumb.

I was reading last week about why stoppage time was introduced - turns out it was because in 1890something in a game between Villa and Stoke with Villa leading 1-0, Stoke won a penalty with 2 minutes left. The Villa keeper kicked the ball out of the ground and before they could recover it and take the penalty the time was up.

Imagine if that happened nowadays - FIFA would just spend years waffling and deciding that no action needed to be taken and meanwhile scores of games would have the exact same thing happening. It sucks. FIFA sucks.
