Cannot believe it.
So there is no Team USA in Russian next year.
 
Team USA went into the game with Trinidad & Tobago in a relaxed state. They trusted in their victory. But got defeated. And will not be at the World Cup for the first time in 32 years.
 
Very few USA players are really world class, but soccer / football is widely played here in high schools and colleges. It is not an unknown sport.

It is stunning to lose to two little islands with a population of less than 1.5 million! Congratulations to Trinidad & Tobago.
 
Definitely that is one of the biggest surprises left the last day of eliminations yesterday .... between the teams of USA, Honduras, Panama .... the USA team was the one that had the clearest to qualify yet lost and that left them out of the world ...!
 
With the amount of players they have to pick from thats pretty surprising
 
Yes - very surprised with all the soccer that goes on in this country.

Hats off to Trinidad and Tobego for pulling it off.
 
I found Chile- which was last champion among the south America countries.
not qualified for world cup as well...so ...

USA not show up in world cup next year might be a normal thing .
 
Its sad that USA cant even qualify. Oh well, I will still watch the world cup.
 
well USA was overconfident and in football there is no small team, since the ball is round.

Look at Iceland then.
A country with less then 350K habitants.
Quarter finalist in EC 2016 and qualified for WC 2018.

Netherlands didn't qualify , but I have enough countries to root for, so I'll definitely enjoy.

Soccer (futbol) will never be big in the USA, where real football rules. Frankly, I'm glad the US lost, so I don't have to hear about it any more, beyond the day after.

I know this sport is getting stronger in USA year by year. This is very good sport for children to move and run for 45 minutes continously. I think a few years and USA will have a strong soccer team. 😉
 
The defeat led to the fall of the US from the third to the fifth place. Below are only the Trinidad people. Americans will miss the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

Panama came on the third line and for the first time in history won a ticket to the World Cup.
