Hi guys, I am new to tournament poker and have been playing a lot of freerolls to get a sense of what its like. I have been finding myself running pretty deep (almost always in the money) in slower formats with deeper starting stacks but am struggling A LOT with hyper tournaments or just faster tournaments. I was wondering how to adjust to these and how to improve. Thank yall in advance for all the tips!

Hyper and fast tournaments are very different from slower structures. You usually have less time to wait for premium hands, so aggression and stack management become much more important. Try to pay close attention to your stack size and learn basic push/fold strategy for short stacks. Stealing blinds from late position is also very important in faster formats. Since you already do well in deep stack tournaments, you probably have good patience — now it’s more about adapting faster and taking spots before your stack gets too short.

I'm finding that these tournaments tend to be more based on luck rather than skill, especially when theres ppl that are all-in with any 2 and winning big. How do you manage tilt with that and is it really just based on luck or is there a more reasonable way to consistently run deep in these tournament?
