I've been playing poker for a long time, but lately I've wanted to take poker seriously and play for real money. I'm wondering where to start and whether satellite is a good option.

In general I think you should only be playing satellites to games you would be playing anyways,, but you're looking to get into for cheaper by winning a ticket.

There's more variance associated with satellites because you essentially have to cash in two straight games, one to win the ticket and then the game the satellite leads to. I would recommend playing either MTTs or MTTs and some SnGs as you're looking to take things more seriously so you can find the base level you're profitable at and then try and improve from there. I don't think playing sattys with any sort of regularity is a good place to start until you find your current high water mark where you're competitive and profitable.

Certainly a satellite is a good way to get into a valued ticket with little investment, take care with rebuys though.

Yes, I want to play MTT in my city, I know that my chances of losing are high, but if I manage to get at least what I invest, that could give me a lot of confidence for the next one.

If you have a consistant hourly rate then the saty needs a prize to be worth giving up that consistent win or what you're giving up to play.

The satellite is a possibility for you to participate in larger tournaments with little or even no money.

I used to play a lot and noticed that the map and the general general map inspires confidence in the strategy of the game, but everything broke down into troubles, mainly MT. I'm not playing satellites right now, it's a waste of time for me. It's better to play freerolls already.

I see the satellites more difficult but it is good for those who have less possibilities $

satellites is very difficult but really if the player can get a ticket for a bigger tournament it would be very good

Hard to win satellites, especially freeroll satellites as you need to basically hit top spot in 4 tournaments in a row, so close to impossible at times. It’s a shot to nothing however.

Don't play satellites if you value your time investment. Play smaller buy-in MTTs instead.

The only exceptions are if there is a big overlay in the satellites or if you can't afford a very special tournament you have always wanted to play.

Thanks for the tip, I also think that satellites can be a waste of time, sometimes I play for hours and end up losing

Of course, I believe that satellites are a means and an opportunity to qualify for valuable tournaments.

i like the allin or fold satelites on gg for bounty hunters very fast 4 players and once you win your way into the main tourny you only need one bounty to
more less break even instead of 4 bounties for a regular bounty buyin but bounties are one of my favorite games ;) gl at the tables in your decision

So you are talking bout Live satellites?

Most live satellites I can play are quite high on the rebuys, and also often have an add on, so you should factor in buying the add on as a mimimum if there is one. Expecting to get back the minimum is not realistic, as even if you do win the ticket the min cash will be very tough to get, as the field will be way harder in the main event. You should look to play the smallest buy in events first, and if you do manage to win some profit on those, then potentially use some of that to play a satellite or 2!

Hello friends
This shouldn't be a question but a statement. We have just a few days since Marcelo Aziz from Brazil won the biggest prize in Brazilian jm history and was able to play the ME with Satellite. So it shows that we can all get there with knowledge and a little luck.

Sometimes I think it's also better to go all-in on satellites than to play for several hours and still lose in the end.

Yes, live satellites have this add on option which for me is bad, I had a lot of chips at the beginning and then another player took this option and ended up with a lot more chips than me, I ended up spending money on rebuys than in my opinion it was better to have spent a little more on the main tournament
