Is it profitable, for you to go into 2-3 steps satty to get into main tournament. I played 1$ satty for 12.5 for 215$, for me was interesting instead of direct pay for my seat.
I was so close to take Ticket 215$, but was knock out KKvs AA preflop. Finished on 40 place, 25 got ticket.

I played them, and I managed to win on 888poker, but very rarely in that format. My biggest win was a $109 tournament ticket; otherwise, it was mostly small stuff. I think it’s better to play freerolls, win some real money, and then use that money to play tournaments.

While I like satellites, for small buy-in relative to target ticket. Getting $1 into a $215 seat is obviously a great upside, but you have to consider the variance involved, especially on multi-steps.
KK vs AA is just one of the brutal spots, where you got chips in with a monster, but ended up against the top of the range. Losing 40th when 25 got tickets is brutal 😭. I would have taken the chance on $1 than pay $215 directly, if the satellite structure gave a decent chance. 🃏

The best part of Sattys is you can learn the icm and most of the field wont bother.

So its often easier to have an icm edge.

Johnathon Little expressing a negative opinion on them

His point his you have a low hit rate at getting into the target tournament and end up playing in a game "above your level".

I don't know, if you can play Sats cheap I say take the shots if you have the time (and it can be time consuming!)

For me, it’s profitable; you invest less to play the main tournament—especially if you don't want to spend a large amount on higher buy-in events. The key is actually winning the entry and not having to play too many of those "step" satellites; I used to play some satellites on 888poker and managed to win a few entries.

It can work out nice, $109 ticket for 1x $16.50 attempt, just need to run well in the $109 now😏
