Uh, yeah they can - a 35bi downswing plus another 10K hands at b/e or worse isn't incredibly unusual for PLO, and incredibly frustrating when you (very correctly and smartly) drop down in limits and it just doesn't stop.

Wheeeeee! A non stop ski slope. I just went through this. I dropped to .01/.02 limits and played massive hands trying to play through this. I figured the losses at this limit won't hurt as much. Things are now picking up.

I've been getting my ass kicked @ $25 PLO rush this week (working on something like a 16-17 BI downswing there...apparently my swings only go one way and go for a long time. btw why is $50 PLO still nonexistant? it's getting annoying) so I dropped down to $10 to see if I could get my head on straight... didn't need to in terms of bankroll, just a mental exercise to get myself thinking right again...

Anyway... First hand like this I've won in...forever. No other way to play this is there?

Are you playing deep tables? Maybe try just playing 100bb's for a while, limit the variance? gl whatever you decide.
Well I was playing a mix of everything just to see if things would change or if my game was evolving to a different mix but I pretty much lost at all. I have not had a winning session for the week but I know things will change.

So after that post I got a sign that things were going to change. I was watching some TV and went into the kitchen to make some toast, I open the cupboard looking for something but end up finding a huge unopened bottle of apple juice. Obviously a sign that today will be a good day. I also need to stop being a whiny bitch because nobody cares really and it makes me look like an idiot. I can feel it, going to win today.

^ I gotta work on that too

I don't think it hurts to vent a little bit sometimes but there's a line I guess.

Well. I think not complaining about the game is a super smart position to take for so many reasons. PLO is an especially difficult game to do this with. :)

You will find that other than my recent "I am gonna quit poker" post I try hard not to complain.

Sometimes though its hard not to let off some steam. And for what its worth CC is a fairly safe place to do it. There are people here who know how it feels.

LOL... not really complaining so much as just laughing in disbelief a little bit

I just got one outted again at PLO for the second time in 3 days in almost exactly the same way... Both times my aces full of queens lost to quad queens.

FT needs a bad beat jackpot... seriously

You never know what a real downswing is until you get a real downswing, curse all the people who told me this :p. Just want to remind everyone that it can always get worse. Currently down 2300$ since March but I'm working on my game and I have a few leaks that I am clearing up so not going to die easy granted, it sucks a ton but it will get better eventually, it may not happen immediately but I know I am good at this game and I am no where near the long run so I have that to look forward to. The reason I post this is because I want to have it in writing to look back on every day I run bad. Just a personal reminder. Took 8 months to get there and 3 to lose 3/4 of it. Thats just life I guess :)

Looks like you have the right attitude and approach... I had a downswing about that bad awhile back and have had some lesser ones since.

I personally had to take a break to get my head straight (not suggesting you need to...everybody is different) but I came back and started winning again. You will too. Keep us posted.

I might take a break if I lose another 10 buyins but who really knows. As long as my mind does not go loopy again, it will be best to grind it through and I do live one of the calmest of lives ever :) so I could be a lot more tilted.

Just one small doom talk.

Be very sensitive to tilt. I have experienced a slow burning low grade tilt that is hard to detect but causes damage nonetheless. It may be even harder to detect this sort of thing in Omaha.

Been playing a lot of tournaments lately with some kind of success so decide to play a little omaha again and see if I am ready. Nope I am not.

I had "I'm good enough" tilt for a while. Severely stunted my poker progress. Basically I was breaking even and just decided the rakeback was ok and I couldn't be bothered to learn anymore. The problem of course being that anytime I considered spending improving my game was eating into the amount I could play and thus reducing my rakeback.

I've overcome it now. Watch out for that one though.

Haha. "I'm good enough tilt". I am familiar with that one too, though I am NOT good enough at PLO to even have "IGET".

I reviewed a couple of recent sessions today and have come to the conclusion that I am tilting at times... I really think you have a point here about it being tougher to detect in omaha.... I generally always knew what I was tilting at hold em but in omaha I think I can get a little tilted and not really realize it.

I agree with tilt being harder to detect at PLO - pots run bigger more quickly, subtle bad decisions (getting it in with almost but not quite the right equity, not getting it in when you do have the right equity) are harder to pick up on imo.

fwiw, I've been grinding micro PLO and NLHE for the last couple of weeks - I'm playing ok but not great, and my allin Ev line blows as usual.

I've noticed a pattern - I play well in my mornings and afternoons and do well (i.e., I'm up a few buyins after these sessions), I play ok in my early evenings, but I spew like a monkey if I play late evenings. I remember seeing a graph of winrates by time of day or something like that, I think from Belgo, anyone know where I can generate that graph? I'd like to confirm for myself that I'm an idiot for playing just before bed.
