Nope, don't get your hopes up. That day never comes.

actually i'm about $1400 above all-in EV since the beginning of the year, so i really shouldn't complain. I just feels a lot less normal when you're on the wrong side of variance for the day.

oh, the fishes don't get any better as you move up in stakes. Just richer. The regs are a lot better on the other hand.

I feel kinda yucky about all this play. This is an fairly marginal hand pre flop. And A set on the flop in omaha is still a very weak hand. And in this case you have only 5 outs to a boat because of your 4 and you have little other possibility of improvement besides a backdoor flush which is often (especially this time) crushed.

I fold that flop almost instantly.

Nice pot though.

its $5 plo though, where your implied odds are huge with every hand you play, and people will stack off very very very light

Well screw you then. I, on the other hand, can't remember a time where I was over EV for any significant period of time.

Sure.. and as someone who has made the majority of his bankroll by trolling for implied odds at micro stakes I am all for trying to limp and call your way into huge pots with good hands. And shove when you have the *nuts*. Or even a good draw to the nuts? :)

But the nhle equivalent of this would be limping in with 9To and then stacking off on a 942 flop.

You can't underestimate the ART of ultra low stakes play. ;) It might be fairly easy, but you still have to hold on loosely and let go of the cards when it doesn't make sense. I don't see where that one made any sense.

so friend from school (I actually think he's posted here a bit before) and I were planning to go up to Turning Stone this weekend. Then we found out there was a tourney series so I figure cash action should be amazing, plus I'm playing in a $750 75k guaranteed tourney and with the entry we got our room for like half price so we're paying like less than most normal hotels plus should have insane live action plus a super-juicy tourney. Definitely looking forward to it, leave Friday and get back Monday.

edit: oh and I'm gonna win the tourney because I was talking to friend on aim who pointed out the tourney series and I said I was debating the $750 tourney and in the course of 10 minutes get AA > QQ AIPF and AA > JJ he flats 3-bet and gets it in on 532 flop both at 400nl to cover buy-in. Obviously a sign that I'm gonna win it lol.

Wow have fun, and GL. Sounds great!

Bah. I have his str8 outs so he gets a runner runner flush :(.

UTG+1: $14.50 (58 bb)
MP1: $32.60 (130.4 bb)
MP2: $32.55 (130.2 bb)
MP3: $34.60 (138.4 bb)
Hero (CO): $25 (100 bb)
BTN: $45.85 (183.4 bb)
SB: $14.75 (59 bb)
BB: $21.40 (85.6 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is CO with Q:spade: Q:club:
3 folds, MP3 calls $0.25, Hero raises to $1.25, 3 folds, MP3 calls $1

Flop: ($2.85) 8:club: T:heart: J:heart: (2 players)
MP3 checks, Hero bets $1.80, MP3 calls $1.80

Turn: ($6.45) 4:club: (2 players)
MP3 checks, Hero bets $5, MP3 calls $5

River: ($16.45) 6:club: (2 players)
MP3 bets $26.55 and is all-in, Hero calls $16.95 and is all-in

Results: $50.35 pot ($2.45 rake)
MP3 showed K:club: A:club: (a flush, Ace high) and won $47.90 ($22.90 net)

thats a pretty bad comparison tbh, its more the same as stacking off with 87 on a 876 board

But folding the flop is hella bad with top set, since even if both villains show up with the nuts, we have 33% equity which is obv what we need a 3 way pot. But also a lot of the time we will have the best hand. If the pot was HU, there would be a case, but not 3 way

Goodbye sanity, hello straight jacket.
I was slapped with more 3 and 2 outers(yes plural) in 20 minutes than I was all of 2008.

I hate poker again.

Was just there last weekend, Zach. What rate are you getting your room at? You can get a special poker rate if you play for 4 hours (which they never even check.)

Just got back from watching the awsome Kaiser Chiefs live in liverpool, what a live band they are just amazing. Supported by Black Kids (a band from America not an actual group of black children).

Why am I telling you this, well im telling everyone. Even a drunk chick puking right behind me and falling into me didnt ruin the evening.

Ok heres some poker content-

I am ready for grinding some sngs.

kaiser cheifs really are awsome live, their old stuff > new stuff though. Did The Black Kids sing 'Not going to teach him how to dance with you' or something along those lines, coz i despise that song

isnt it awsome when you have like pocket 8's on a A,K,6 flop, and villain slow plays A,K so flop goes check/check and you bink an 8 on the turn and win their stack then get berated in the chat box for catching that out :)

i understand where u are coming from but the table was crazy and most of the players seemed to be holdem players in that they over played over pairs and i knew that if i hit anything on that flop, i would be playing for stacks against some loopy hands

Well I'm getting the poker rate just for playing in that tourney, it's like $80/night for both of us which I thought was amazing for a weekend lol. Anyway you should come up this weekend too, tables should be soft with this tourney series going on :). You live nearby?

Someone make sense of this hand for me please. Apparently my table image means that I will bluff constantly, and that I always have a flush/straight draw.

Hero (CO): $152.20 (152.2 bb)
MP: $175.42 (175.4 bb)

Pre-Flop: Hero is CO with A J
UTG folds, MP raises to $3.50, Hero calls $3.50, 3 folds

Flop: ($8.50) 6 4♠ A♠ (2 players)
MP bets $5, Hero calls $5

Turn: ($18.50) Q (2 players)
MP checks, Hero checks

River: ($18.50) K♠ (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $12.25, MP calls $12.25

Results: $43 pot ($2.65 rake)
Hero showed A J (a pair of Aces) and lost (-$20.75 net)
MP showed A A (three of a kind, Aces) and won $40.35 ($19.60 net)
