Would have been my newest biggest pot as well...

LOL reading that HH felt weird. It happened to me a grand total of 3 times in Jan and the images are still burned into the back of my eyes.

This month has been running nice and smoothly for me so far, I just cannot seem to play any more than 6 tables on i-donker without starting to time out on hands, seriously it feels like you have 4 seconds to act, and no time bank. Good for the stupid fish in "if in doubt shove" mode. Up 7buyins in under 3K hands.

So it worked for you? Damn, i'm the only one here that can't apply this technique...

Thx again for the cent, btw. :D

You guys are all wrong.

You need to send $0.01 to confedrate for it to have any impact.
25 billionth hand cooler ldo !

Ok, theres a lot of whining going on in this thread.
But is it really that bad ? It might not be fun to read for other players, but it's a good way to releave stress imo.
After all, it is a poker chat thread, right ?

I feel the same way. I don't mean put every hand that you were sucked out on in here. But this thread is for telling how we are running during the month.

If we can't post our bad hands (and even ask for a little sympathy) then I think we need to stop posting Brag hands too.

Edit: Not everyone can run like a God like KC and TC do!!!:p

odds of flopping pair: 3/51
Odds of flopping set: ~1/8.5

Odds before seeing hole cards that you will flop a set: 0.69% or around 1 in 144.5

If you could see all flops, you have a pair 3/51 times = 5.9% and it flops a set 1-(48*47*46)/(50*49*48) = 11.8%, so you end up flopping a set 0.69%

That would actually be about 14 times over 2k hands. But practically you're really not supposed to see the flop with all your pairs. You probably see it less and less as you move up in stakes.

I see the flop with all my pairs, but i do play at 5nl lol where you can almost guarantee a big pay off when you hit your set. I know this is going to have to change as i move up but i'll cross that bridge when i come to it

basically (48/50)(47/49)(46/48) is the probability that you will not flop a set, because 2 help you and the other 48/47/46 each street don't help you. The 1-that changes it from odds you do not flop a set to the odds that you do.

Alrighty ... sorry about my once-a-month Icemonkey9 rant ... but hey it's me so what else could ya expect. Anyways here's my game plan.

The Problem: Took some sick coolers today. Three flopped sets all in and drawn out on. Ace high flush at river loses to a rivered boat. Top two pair flopped loses to a flopped set. On top of that running $150 below EV for the 2nd consecutive day. Yadda, yadda, yadda.

The root problem:
- All this crap started when I did the deposit bonus at stars
- "Variance" yay

How I plan to fix it:
- Took a nap
- Eat yummy dinner
- Send $0.01 to Daniel Negreanu
- Send $0.01 to Humberto Brenes
- Send $0.01 to BelgoSuisse
- Clear stupid bonus TONIGHT

Thank you for putting up with this dumb post.

Hey Ice, running bad is teh suck, and I totally understand needing to vent. I used to do it a lot, but I just can't be arsed with venting anymore on here b/c I run totally ****e all the time (yeah read into that that I'm a **** player).

And OMG sending them 1c... thats so f'kin therapeutic, I'm gonna start sending random members on here 1c. Cool idea Ice, I think you have found me a stress relief :D.

For those of you still using the AHK scripts of "Stars Assistant" and "Betpot" I have to highly recommend Table Ninja. Easy setup, works great and better than those two did combined. Give it a try.

I actually d/l tableninja the other day. On the face of it, it looks a cool piece of software, but when I was running it, I seem to have pretty horrid lag problems when playing 12+ tables. How did you find it?

I never paid attention in math class.

Brief explanation please?

chances of flopping a set is 1 minus the chance of not flopping a set.

In order to not flop a set, you must miss the first card, miss the second card and miss the third one.

For the first card, you know 2 cards (your pocket pair) and out of the 50 unknown cards, 48 of them don't give you a set, so it's 48/50 .

For the second card, you know 3 cards (your pocket pair + first one on flop) and out of the 49 unknown cards, 47 of them don't give you a set, so it's 47/49 .

For the third card, you know 4 cards (your pocket pair + first two on flop) and out of the 48 unknown cards, 46 of them don't give you a set, so it's 46/48.

In order to not flop a set, you must miss the first one, then the second one, then the third one, so you multiply the probabilities of that and get (48*47*46)/(50*49*48) = 0.882. The rest of the time, you flop a set, so it's 1-0.882 = 0.118 = 11.8%

That was assuming you had a pocket pair. If you don't assume that, you first need the probability a having a pocket pair. That's easy to compute. The first card you get dealt can be any card, but the second one has to be one of the 3 remaining cards of the same value in the deck of 51 remaining cards, i.e. 3/51 = 0.059 = 5.9%

Now, in order to flop a set when you're dealt a random hand, you obviously first need to get dealt a pair, then to get a flop that hits your pair, and therefore you multiply both probabilities. that's 0.118 * 0.059 = 0.0069 = 0.69%

NOTE: " * " is the multiplication sign obviously

I've never had any lag problems with tableninja, but I only play up to 9 tables. But my computer is a big steaming pile of shit so it balances out, imo
