Poker is only a game of chance when you land on a table with someone who knows how to play, that's bad luck, it's the old story, the shark eating the fish. Poker is sport, Poker is study, dedication, mathematics, the long-term luck factor decreases with each play. Now, if you're going to go out and play once to try your luck, bet what you shouldn't, don't take into account your bankrooll then yes, then you're in a game of chance.

Cash games, i would consider them gambling but tournaments i would say it is not.

Yes, I consider poker to be a game of chance. In addition, addiction is formed to it. This has been tested by experience.

Compared to other forms of gambling, poker provides the players with the most self determining outcomes. Just play a PS freeroll...you need some random luck no matter your skill level.

I just recently thought about this issue. I think that any games in which there is rivalry between people are gambling. Any sport in which people play with each other in order to win is gambling, and poker as we know it is a sport. The reason for this is not money, if you just play poker with friends at home, for example, not for money but for something else, then there will also be passion. The desire to win inspires passion in a person, and it does not matter what game and what prize this person plays.

I personally don't believe that it is, yes, money is involved in this game, but there are other games and tournaments that also involves money. Also unlike typical casino games like Blackjack, more skill than luck is involved to do well in this game.

If you play on money then it is definitely gambling. And it doesn't matter skill, luck or something else.

I see poker only as a game of chance, at least to me poker is a game of chance. Poker is not a sport and I find it funny when sometimes players call poker a sport. Most likely, such players just want to think of themselves as athletes, when in reality they are just gamblers.

Poker is a game of skill in the long run and a game of luck in the short run. I u play well over a large samplesize u should be able to book a win.

Now after reading sone of the answers here im once again convinced that for most cardschatters its probably just a game of luck.
