One tournament i had to fold a pair of Aces, it was the worst thing i had to do but there was a chance of a flush and my opponent was very aggresive. I never thought about it, so I will not be able to recommend something else. Just think on the cards that opponent can have instead of thinking about your own cards. If you have pair, someone else have pair too. I have learn that by my own experience. Computer always gives pair to two persons on the table. Consider that in the future games.
