Never play your money until you known yourself as a winning player. Play just freerolls as a field for study, your winnings can be used to explore more fields, not to withdraw. And never play more than 5% of your bankroll until you become as a Professional poker player.

For someone just starting out but would like to take it up more seriously I would tell them that although it might seem like a simple game at first, it is a very complex game and no matter how long you play and study it, you can never learn everything. I would also tell them that if at any point you are not having fun playing it, you should definitely consider taking a break.

most of my advice has been mentioned by others already but #1 find a friend who is knowledgeable about the game .#2 get some poker books to read and study .#3 join forums like 2+2 and cardschat.#4 play plenty of online freerolls to get a feel for the games and how the software works on different poker sites .#5 use sharkscope to gain info and evaluate your opponents if you begin to play real money tourneys .

I think the most important advice for a beginner is: be patient and focus on learning, not just winning. Poker has a long learning curve, and it's easy to get frustrated in the beginning. Start with solid fundamentals — understand hand rankings, positions, and bankroll management.

Also, don’t be afraid to fold. A big part of poker is knowing when not to play. 🙂

And of course, like you said, have fun! If you love the game, the improvement will come naturally.

The most important advice for beginners is: learn the basics well and start with low stakes, and treat every experience as a chance to learn. Most importantly, enjoy the game — poker isn’t just about winning, it’s about challenge, patience, and fun!

Estudar Study the game, create your strategies, be patient and start with the freerolls so you can gain experience and try to apply the knowledge you acquire through your studies.

Not bankroll management, rather management of future games planned with some kind of mental preparation

The most important advice I would give to someone just starting out is: "Keep the initiator who got you into poker in the first place!"

It's also important to consider whether you can maintain that impulsion.
If you're playing poker for the first time in a casual setting with friends, you might not be happy playing online poker.

Another way to phrase it would be "Play with fun!"

To learn about the game, to learn about yourself, to play with no real money until you know get real good and them play only freerolls, to get tilt and see how you react, this is an amazing game, but is you only see it as a gamble, you may lose a lot of money.

If you don't have a great love for the game, nerves of steel and patience, then it's better to give up this idea right away, don't waste your time.:p

If you just started to play poker and you don't know yet if you are going to play only recreationally or for the money ask yourself if you enjoy the game when you play. If you don't enjoy the game, don't bother and do something else. Why would you do something that you don't enjoy doing in the first place (and there is less probability that you'll be profitable as well).

Poker is a game of skill, but luck also plays a significant role. My advice is to play tight till you think you know what you're doing
And then you can amp up the aggression and bluffing slowly. If you play for real money, bankroll management is imperative.

First, I'd ask him: What's your goal in poker? -

- Are you going to play just for fun?

- Or become a professional player?

If the answer is just to play for fun, I'd say:

- Have fun, and be prepared to laugh a lot with the variance.

If your goal is to become a professional, I'd say:

- Create a PS account and start playing with play money.
Start understanding the dynamics of the game, how it works, card combinations, etc. Now, look for free information on the internet and YouTube, familiarize yourself with ranges, positions, etc., and continue putting this into practice.
Once you understand what each combination of hands and strongest cards means, look for a course and start studying ranges, and delve deeper and deeper.
And prepare for something: variance, in poker, variance is overwhelming, and the least you need to do is play the most perfect game possible, variance will still remain high and may last for a long period, but in the long run, it tends to balance out by making the best decisions.

Bonus tip: have good bankroll management so that when these situations occur, you can manage and get through them without too much loss.

1Learn to learn poker for free on CChat.
2. Play only freerolls until you reach the top 3 at the final table.
3. In the function of position play preflop with premium hands or if you are in Button or SM, BB you can also call with cards that inspire confidence and if a player has raised be careful and weigh with clarity of hand!
4. After a while you can enter tournaments with Buy in minors, have patience, trust, perseverance.

I would tell them to first study well the game and all its stages, while can start playing small tournaments to gain also experience, but because poker is a very complex game I would say to study a lot to get to understand nicely the game first.

One of the most important tips for beginners in poker is to be patient and to understand the value of their hands. The game is not just about being aggressive, but especially about being selective with the hands they play and reading the behavior of their opponents. Learn to manage the bankroll and not to succumb to impulses, but to play smart and keep calm in the face of emotions.

Manage your money – Only play with what you can afford to lose.
Play fewer, stronger hands – Fold weak cards and bet aggressively with good ones.
Pay attention to position – Act later in the round when possible.
Watch your opponents – Learn their habits to exploit mistakes.
Stay calm – Don’t let bad beats ruin your strategy.
Long-term success > short-term luck.
