I don't play poker to make money, I play poker because I love to play poker... so I play it anywhere I can, and I try to succeed anywhere that I play. I have billions of play chips on Poker Stars and I play at the highest level possible. I feel it has taught me a lot along the way, despite the perception of most snobby poker players that "play chip poker isn't real poker". Bullcrap. Poker is poker!! You are either a winning player or you aren't. If you are, you can win anywhere including at the minor league level of play chips. No, it isn't all that difficult to win if you understand basic poker strategy and statistics, all it really takes is patience and discipline to win at the play chip level. I'm certainly not bragging, I was forced to use the play chips by my own damn government or else I'd be playing for real money... but since that isn't my primary motivation, after a few years off after Black Friday, I just kept right on going with my dream to be the best poker player I can be, even if it's never gonna make me rich.

Eventually I took the skills learned while climbing the play chip ladder on Poker Stars and joined Cards Chat to play some freerolls and build a bankroll on the few sites we Americans can still play on for real money. It's a fun challenge, and that's exactly why I play this great game!

Back in the day there was a play 5/10 table on FullTilt.
It was called the DE table.
We had a group of us who would always decompress and play there every night for fun.
I miss those days.

I have been playing poker with real money for a long time and you have to bear in mind that playing with play money is not the same as playing with real money the strategies are very different if you play with play money it is best that you start at low levels since when playing direct at a medium or high level you will only have losses

At the beginning of my poker journey, I played holdem for play money to get a feel of how the game is played. Now its just a matter of building a bankroll.

I will play the money money tables if it's a game that I'm new to and want to figure my way around it, yes, but for games I'm familiar with, I won't. I have limited time to play and if I'm going to play, it's going to either be cash games or MTT's.

Ah...But that's exactly what I did 14 years ago when learning NLH on PS play money. And it's what I'm doing now in preparation for return to real money play on ACR. Due to the fact that some folks buy play money chips in amounts that cost more than some real money deposits I have made in the past, there is a degree of seriousness to some. To the point that I've heard infrequent complaints of the play money games being rigged. But focusing on repairing my leaks makes me shrug off bad results. But let's not get it twisted either. I enjoy getting the video e-mail from PS when I ship a play money tournament. Time to go work on some leaks.

So I'm still at the play money tables. Still working on my leaks. Had 8-9 million play chips last Dec. on PS when I started back at the play money tables. Have since increased my bankroll to 4.4 billion chips. With 1.3 billion coming in one cash table pot 3 nights ago. Being a mtt player, the cash game pot was extremely satisfying to me. Needless to say, I left that 500 mil table quickly to go to a 20 mil table. I have shored up some of my cash game leaks, but the biggest one remains. And that is patience. This time next month I hope to have a tablet. That will allow me to resume playing mtt on ACR, where I have a $59 bankroll jumpstarted by several Cardschat freerolls. Meantime, play money it is. Some folks do take it seriously. Enough to spend $50-$500 buying play money packages. Better be serious at those prices for play money chips, cause guess what? PS rakes play money mtt and cash games. I luv it. And folks think I'm a fish and donk behind some of the plays I make. I'm just balancing my play and making out like a bandit. Shipped the Sunday Elite freeroll two weeks ago and took 2nd last Sunday. Working on my leaks.

I used to Play for play-money on Facebook but it ruins your game play as there are a lot more hands you play that you would normally fold, and a lot more all-in situations.
I remember when the Lock-downs started and I was wasting time with Play-money games when I could be trying to build my Bank-roll on Pokerstars, So I switched and found I had picked up some bad habits but soon I was back to my old game and winning.
I have increased my bank-roll by 60% over the last 8 months and getting stronger, I was buying in for 25 and 50 cent games then increased when my Bank-roll grew, I now play in the $1.00/$1.50 dollar bracket with the occasional $3.00 game.
Building a bank-roll from free-roll's is hard work and the way I measure my game play is how big a Bank-roll I have, as I have never deposited my own money, and never withdrawn any winnings, This will continue as I believe "what you never had, you never miss"

I love playing for play money. It's a lot of fun and usually quite social. A lot of Americans (who are often quite good players) play for play money at Pokerstars.

I also sometimes play with Americans on PS in 7 card Stud SnG for 8 people at high stakes ))

The difference is that you don't see a lot of the "I have no idea what I'm doing" craziness that you always see in freerolls. Many of the Play Money players actually know what they're doing but can't play for real money because they live in the US or other countries that don't allow online poker.

Chasing a few pennies by throwing dice at a virtual wall gets boring after a while. I'll take "candy wrappers" any day.

I used to while I was starting online Poker, then it tends to become either boring or pointless if you're regular in real money tournaments. I guess all of us have been there but most of us won't keep playing those.
