Really, if late registration seems annoying and absurd to me, I only think that it is used for business so that the tournaments reach the guaranteed one and the room does not have money losses

freerolls are a gift but like any gift not everyone will like everything about it.
I do not like late registrations for a freeroll for two reasons, 1. If you are getting in for free you should be on time and 2. I hate all late registrations.
I could live with 15 min to30 min on buy-in tournaments.

no, actually is more difficult to win money by entering late in the tournament because you will only have 20bb or even less than that, so the only advantage will be playing less hours for the same price pool but at the expense of having less than the average stack.

The truth is, I hate waiting so long to register, that's why I only play tournaments between 30 'and 1 hour of late registration.

Do I hate late reg

Gee let me think. 4 hour late reg is rediculous. The blinds are higher then what you can rebuy for a lot of the time. Its stupid. Hour and a half tops thats all you need.

alternatives to long late registration periods

The counter arguments are interesting - play turbos or SnGs. Those events IMO, and quite factually, increase the 'luck' factor required to make the top 3. Longer tourneys allow players who are better - to rise to the top more often, take advantage of the other players who are less skilled and knowledgeable.

The other alternative is the tourneys would need to lower the guarantee for each event and charge more per player.

So instead of playing a 2.20 buyin event for a chance at winning a portion of a 2k prize pool, normally 500+ up top for 1st place, the tourney instead would cost 6.60 per person and the prize pool would be half or even less of 2k. Also the payout structure would be condensed. Instead of 180 players making it into the money it would be more like 50.
I would actually prefer a condensed prize pool. Less min-cashes and more up top, but that is a separate topic.

I don't like tournaments with long late registration periods at all. Two, three, four hours seems crazy to me but I have seen that the Sunday Million 15th Anniversary will have the registration open for 24 hours and 5 minutes!!!

It depends on which tournament it is and what type of late registration it is, there are rooms that have super long nonsense registrations, but tournaments like tomorrow's SM do not seem bad to me that it is 1 day late.

Yes I dislike the long registration times of some tourneys, in fact on 888 more than once I have seen players register, sit out and still end up ITM, How can this be?:):):)

Hi. I don't like these tournaments either, if you play them from the very beginning. However, in one of these tournaments with a deep initial stack, I registered 10 minutes before the end of registration and eventually got into the prizes. Of course, it was not without luck.:p

Poker

I really dislike late registration, which is more than 1 hour. I even think that it is harmful to poker in general, it drains your nerves and starts to hate this game.

I used to enjoy structures like that, but it makes for a long night. So now I like the shorter reg tournaments.

Question

Normally 30 - 45 minutes is okay, no more. But sometimes it's good for knockout tourneys, if you made it to the late times with more chips in the table. Eventually it's always good to welcome new players starting with few K chips.

I like the late registration but the maximum one of 30 minutes. I hate the biggest ones, especially the 2-hour ones .....

If it is frustrating, Late registration should end, it cannot be that a player enters already after the tournament started and with the same chips as when the tournament started, They have too much advantage, If they do not want to eliminate late registrations at least give them a penalty to those who enter late, such as taking five hundred chips or something like that, that they do not enter with an advantage because then they would not have a very unfair advantage for the players who already started from zero

Yes I hate this. Especially in re-entry tournaments. It makes the tournament last so much longer when everyone has 10 entries and registration is ridiculously long.
