The social media team at Casino Del Sol gave the residents of Tucson, Ariz., the first peak of its newest property, and it’s a gem. The Casino Del Sol, Vahi Taa’am is scheduled to open Nov. 15, and workers are busy putting the finishing touches on the 163,000-square-foot facility owned by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe.
Pronounced “vah-hee tah-ahm,” it means “three suns” in the native language, and that makes more sense knowing that this is the third casino for the tribe.
Located at 1055 W. Grant Road near Interstate 10, the casino will contain more than 52,000 square feet of gambling space that will hold 924 slot machines, including 56 high-limit games. The property will also include table games, a sportsbook and seven bar-top gaming stations.
“Every design choice, every partnership, every hire — all of it flows from the same source: our culture, our people, and our responsibility to the Tucson community we have called home for generations,” Julian Hernandez, Chairman of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, said. “Casino Del Sol, Vahi Taaʼam is built on Old Pascua Community land, and it carries that meaning with it.”
