* CASH GAME: stable, less emotional swings.
* TOURNAMENT: High pressure, big swings, long sessions, and all- in moments.

cash= skill + math
tournament = skills + math + survival + timing.

Everyone has their own preferences, of course. But personally, for me, tournaments are much easier and more enjoyable to play. Cash games have always been difficult and not very profitable for me.

A tighter way to frame it:
Cash = depth + precision
MTT = adaptation + pressure management

I agree, and I would even put it this way:
Cash games are about making consistently correct decisions over the long run. If you make a mistake, you can rebuy and keep playing.
Tournaments are more about adaptation and survival. One mistake can cost you the entire tournament, and ICM pressure plus push/fold spots make decisions much tougher.
That is why cash games test discipline and technical skill more, while tournaments test psychology, patience, and the ability to choose the right moment.
I like this idea: cash games are work, tournaments are war.

Hi guys.

Well,

Cash games and tournaments require completely different strategies.

Tournaments demand, first and foremost, available time, patience, discipline, and a pre-defined strategy.

It's worth emphasizing that this time must be quality time, free from distractions.

The problem for me isn't cash games themselves, but the people they attract. Gamblers generally don't have the patience for tournaments, as they demand time, focus, and a lot of patience. In cash games, I imagine there will be many more bad beats because of this, so I don't like this scenario, but you presented a positive point.

I'd love to be on a cash table with a load of gamblers.....thats the dream.....

I don't play much holdem cash, weirdly only omaha....to get my 3 X AA on GG steps.

I should start playing a little more as I think I could make a steady profit if I remove my attachment to the actual cash a bit!!

Actually, I like tournaments more, I think they're more fun, but lately I've been playing more cash games because of the time available.
Tournaments take a long time, sometimes you get stuck for hours. In the cash game it's different, you can simply log out whenever you want.
That's why I've been playing more cash games for convenience, although I still prefer tournaments.

I can definitely see this. Specially people who are playing way below there bankroll. Which would just make the all ins even worse.

I am not alone I see. Specially the ability to play freerolls. I still prefer tournaments. Like you said. Time is a valuable commodity these days. That some people just don't have.

Yes. I know what you mean >>> MTTs are pure luck when you have zero skill.

Your perception of how the game might play is actually the complete opposite. Tournament play is much higher variance with a ton more overly aggressive donkeys. It's really not even close.

"Tournament play is much higher variance with a ton more overly aggressive donkeys." It is not that simple. You have different kinds of tournaments. Bounty tournaments has more "agressive donkeys" as you like to say in those words, but in a deep stack you will find less players like that, hyper, sit and go etc. The kind of money, freerolls, i dont play at the same way in different kinds of tournaments. It is a mistake trying to find a magic solution of how is this or that. Do you really think that in a tournament of 1 dollar you will find the same "donkeys" in another one of 100,00 ? it is not that easy.

Cash games have a disadvantage that a player who is lucky in the short term can leave at any time, win your money, and even though you know he may be a gambler, you will never meet him at the tables.
