There is a partially demolished casino and hotel about 30 minutes from downtown Las Vegas with an interesting history, the casino part was town down a couple of years ago to make way for an industrial park but apparently those plans got stalled and the hotel was left standing and completely abandoned with people vandalizing and starting fires inside. This property closed during COVID and never reopened.

I love junkyards and derelict buildings and could spend all day wandering around in here.

We do not have enough casinos in this country as it is, let alone abandoned ones. The industry is too heavily regulated.
Would I like to visit one? Only if I'm the first (and only) person let loose in it

Legal casinos are still banned in Brazil; as usual, we only have the illegal ones. I hope the law legalizing casinos here gets passed. If there were any around here, I’d definitely go.

We don't have abondoned casinos in Brazil, because casinos are illegal here (except online casinos... 🤔).

We have Chernobyl in Ukraine, a whole city. I have been there several times on excursions. It is very interesting there. But the main thing is to observe safety.
Of course, this has nothing to do with casinos, but there is something to see there even without a casino.

Here in Argentina. There are some abandoned casinos. I think the most emblematic one is the casino in the City of Necochea. It was inaugurated in the early 70's. It was gigantic. It had about 22,000 square meters, was located about 100 meters from the sea, had a bowling alley, discotheque, skating rinks, swimming pools facing the sea, shopping galleries, and an auditorium with capacity for about 370 people, it received a few thousand people every night, although then came the military dictatorship, the change in the country's economy, and also the casino infrastructure itself, it is said that the materials used were not the best for a casino located 100 meters from the sea with the climate that implies. It also suffered several fires, one accidental while employees were working, others who never knew where they came from, I would have liked to know it, it was designed in what looked like the shape of a spaceship. Very futuristic for the time.

That's a huge facility to wind up abandoned. I've read about Jorge Videla and what was done in Argentina starting in 1976, very difficult times for the citizens.

There was a deal reached last month to try and resurrect Primm Valley Resort but I have difficulty seeing how that would succeed given the competition from the proliferation of tribal casinos in California, Primm is dying for a reason and will probably continue to do so.

If they were dark times in the dictatorship with thousands of people missing. I think the value of the facility as it stands today is around 9 million dollars

Here in Brazil, casinos are banned. Those that exist are clandestine! And yes I have a dream of one day going to Las Vegas to visit some...

There were several casinos in the Phillipines that were abandoned -- attached to old and aging hotels and mainly because they struggled to compete with integrated resorts offering mixed-use services and entertainment, including casinos.

But one of the more famous casino that was abandoned was Fontana Leisure Parks & Casino in Clark, Pampanga. Clark was formerly a US-based military hub location.

Fontana was abandoned during its peak operation, and Duterte's reign as president. It was shutdown due to unlicensed gambling operations and illegal immigration of Chinese workers. This was the era of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations or POGO, where several operators that were declined to operate legally, conduct gaming operations by bribing official government people.

Another shutdown happened during the COVID pandemic - they ran an illegal gambling operation disguised as COVID medical facility.

Such a shame!

Edit:
No motivation to visit an abandoned casino. :ROFLMAO::eek:

I've never been to an abandoned casino. But if I had the opportunity to visit such places, I would definitely take advantage of it.

I have never seen one, but yea would be cool to get a wander through it. I bet they sold off a lot of things inside.

Our state owned casinos operate since the 60s .
We have former cardcasinos who had to close after 20 years because the state refused to renew their license.
But nothing special to see.
Just empty buildings/ rooms:)

It would be cool to visit such locations. But since I've never been to Las Vegas, I'd like to visit a regular casino first :)

None of the existing casinos here were closed or abandoned, even the ones from the 1950s (Casino E-Saadi, Marrakech).
And honestly, I like it to stay that way.

I used to watch people on YouTube visit abandoned buildings, many with lots of stuff still inside,
and it was always interesting; some had homeless people inside, and some seemed haunted, and many were in rough shape
with stairs and stuff that seemed unstable. It would definitly be interesting to visit an abandoned casino, but I never have.
