Cash games or tournaments?

What do you think which is easier to play? Of course they are both difficult but what are your oppinions? Thank you

I personally like playing tournaments and find it easier.

When I play cash games, I don't bet like I normally would. Something about seeing the actual cost of the bet. It makes me play cheap and not want to raise even if I know that I should.

Hmm I like both , cash games will make you improve you post flop game a lot if you study alongside.But nothing compares with the feeling of a tournament win!

If your question is which is "easier" I would say tournaments. You don't have to be as skilled of a player, to do well in tournaments. It's a lot of pre-flop play, and not as much post flop play, which is where the real "skill" is.

That being said, if you want to be profitable long term you have to be a great cash game player, or hit a few HUGE tournament binks.

All the money is made in cash games.

well i think cash games cause there is no tournement life stake there,big call and fail your out in cash game you can restock and go on

Cash games like infinity, you can make rebuy and stay as much as you want. My biggest problem with it are the stakes, never increasing just the basic. So time won't kick you under the preassure to do unexpectional moves. And the others will be more considered as well.
Tournaments have aims with paid-out places and bounties, which are more exciting and makes sense for me the most.

See this would be true if you're not keeping tally of profit/loss. Yes, you can "big call and fail and re-stock" in CG, but you have to realize that when you "re-stock" that is another buy in, just like in a tournament with re-entries.

If you look at your profit and loss in the form of BB/100 then you will quickly see how being a profitable cash player is much more lucrative than being a profitable tournament player. Start figuring in your opportunity cost, and average income per hour.

Try, looking at it like this. You just started a tournament with 100 bb's now how would you play your tournament table with 100 bigs, and play your cash game the same way. Over time learn your opponents and adapt.

So, because you are asking I will ask you - can you sit for 4 or 5 hours straight? Can you concentrate for that long?

If you can not or if you are not sure then cash games are for you because you can leave them anytime - even after just one hour or less.

But if you leave a tournament and you are not a giant stack that can afford to be blinded out - then you are giving up on that tournament and will not make any money.

It's up to you. You should try both and see what is easier for you.

I'm a MTT player but some times I love to play microcash (nl1/nl2). to my opinion it is easier to play tours but it takes more time and not guaranting much money in the end. another side - you can play hyper tours "double or nothing" and be much more profitable than cashplayer =)))

umm

i prefer tourney cuz in cash game even if you have the best hand "A,A" there is a chance the other player may have straight,flush runner, 2 pairs, a set i lost soo many times with hands like that and i raise and player raise. When you play the tourney you don't really lose as much.

like if you have AA the other person will raise too and can have alot of possibility i don't know if i have bad luck but i lost with AA soo many times on cash games on ACR thats why i stick with tourneys risk very little and can win alot or lose very little.

AA doesn't lose or win any more or any less in tournaments vs. cash games. Just because over a short sample it appears that you are running better or worse in a particular game doesn't mean that it's true in the long term. It's very possible that you're just experiencing a downswing.

I like cash games because I can sit out whenever and I'm not forced to go all in. Tournaments are definitely more fun though especially when you get a giant chip stack.

Tournaments, cash games are tougher as there's always a player or two trying to buy every pot. Also, you pay one fee.

I believe that it is easier to play poker tournaments, even players who do not know how to play poker, have a good chance to win a poker tournament, or even several poker tournaments, than a cash player who does not know how to play poker will not be able to beat regular players

i like cash games better to be honest quicker pace more excitement but i'm just now starting to play them and i am not any good. However i do pretty well in mtt play, i don't know if it's easier for everyone but i am way better at tournament play.

I am experienced in both and I can say with confidence that it is easier to earn money in tournaments. With few exceptions, I play only tournaments now.

I prefer tournaments. But I'm not a very good cash player yet. For me, there's something easier about managing the pressure that builds during a tournament, as the blinds go up. That may sound a little goofy, but for me it's true.

Cash Games

I don't think one is any easier then the other but in cash games there seems to be lots less "bingo". I guess I would need to ask you when you were referring to tournament play are these "freerolls" or buy in tournaments?

I do play in both but find cash tables my choice. #1 doesn't take hours to play and you usually run into a lot of the same players thus know how to play against them from taking notes etc.

Again poker is poker and I don't see one being any easier then the other. Both have benefits and rewards.
