It all depends on what you need to know about specialized games for cash games and others for tournaments, now which one to choose is the one that you feel most comfortable with and have the most knowledge of strategies to play

I think the cash is more difficult, and tournaments can earn more money for a small investment.

Cash as it's easier to pick spots between the same nine opponents or however many there are. It's a fixed blind structure and very little variance. Once you've learned and adapted this style, you can try to adjust to the tournament. You just have to realize that you have to be force to make moves you wouldn't in cash, but always try to keep patience.

I think that beginners should always start with freerolls. This is the safest way to get to know the game and get your first experience. For me, cash games are more complicated than tournaments.

I only play tournaments and have long abandoned cash tables. It all depends on your skill. To each his own. You can not judge unambiguously about one thing.

I think Cash compared to MTT cash is easier because you are dealing with one table only and its not a tournament that you are looking for any payoff. Just looking for a good hand every round.

Compared to SNG it may be similar in that it is one table even though you are looking for a smaller payout then MTT In that seance SNG may be easier than MTT. I would also say it is SNG is slightly easier than cash in that it is also hand dependent but at least you are playing not with your own cash (asides from the buy in) and you know how much money will payout if you finish in one of the 3 or 2 positions.

I prefer tournaments, cash is harder for me in microlimites and I don't have enough banking for high levels. I recommend you play more tournaments than cash after having an acceptable bankrool you can prove cash.

on my part I like to play tournaments a cash game too difficult for me I lose a lot on cash game

The easier one to play is the one with the weaker competition.
Sometimes this will be tournaments, sometimes it will be cash games.

Cash games at small limits are usually easier to make good money because
A) players make mistakes deepstacked
B) you can take as long as you need (blind never go up)
C) others get impatient, drunk, tired, tilted, etc.

Tournaments are tougher to make good money in because the escalating blinds take away a lot of the skill edge. Yes, there is a big advantage when you reach the final table, or get to play shorthanded/headsup against weaker competition, but those situations won't come up that often.

So... once in a while tournaments will be much easier because you get to play extremely high stakes against players who don't know how to play well shorthanded and headsup.

But most of the time, cash games are the better play because you will always have a big edge and you can put yourself on the best game and in the best seat in the room which is extremely profitable

I prefer tournaments. I am not good in cash games but from time to time I play micro limits zoom.

I have always been a tournament player. Tournaments and the big prize at the end were always easier to motivate myself to grind than just winning a few buyins at cash games. I think this is one of the things that can be vastly different depending on the individual as the two forms are quite different.

Even though I have had success in cash games, I always lack the motivation to play them a lot. Tournaments its easier for me to start a session and play til the tables are all gone

In my experience small to medium sized tournaments is the easiest way to make money in online micro stakes games. The main reason for this is rake. When you enter a tournament, you pay a fee of typically 10%, and then you get to play for hours without paying anything again. In cash games on the other hand each and every time, you get involved in post flop action, the poker site charge you around 5%.

The result of this is, that while your hourly winrate before rake might actually be fairly similar, the poker site will keep most if not all your profit, if you play cash games. If on the other hand you play tournaments, its pretty easy to get to keep more than half of the money, you actually win from other players, for yourself.

In the past this was less of a problem, because cash game players were really bad, and rake-back deals were also better. If you can make 10 BB / 100 in cash games and then also get 30-40% rakeback, you are making great profit. But today typical winrates are more like 3 BB / 100, and rakeback is almost non existent. So in my opinion cash games have become a bit of a raketrap, and it is much easier to make money in online tournaments.

maybe I just don't have much experience in cash games but I think in cash games you need more luck than in tournaments, but I never played big stacks

I prefer tournaments. In cash games (at least at the micro levels that i play) most people wait for really good hands to participate in the pot which makes the game boring. Moreover you can easily loose everything that you have won in a few hours with just one wrong move. I know that multi tabling is the key here but i do not like it. I like the game and do not want to just jump from one table to another constantly. That's why i prefer tournaments. In tournaments i pay my buyin and i play with much more confidence knowing that i can not loose more that my entry tax. As i usually play only one or at most two MTTs simultaneously i have the time to monitor the other players and feel the game which i really like. Of course this is just me so for everybody it is different. If you look only to make money and are good player cash games with multi tabling are usually better for this.

I think that playing in tournaments or cash is not easy at all ... however when you play at the cash tables it is sometimes a little easier because of the following:
1-) If you are a regular player ... then you will usually find yourself playing with the same opponents ... this allows you to know the way they play.
2-) You will always have the option to buy more chips if you run out of them ...!
3-) You can start playing at the time you want.
4-) You can retire at any time you want ..

I think a lot depends on your style of play and the type of player you are and which you have put the most amount of study into. I tend to find that there are great tournament players and there are great cash game player, seldom are there players that are great at both. Find a game type that you enjoy and are successful in and stick to that!

For me I prefer tournaments and/or sit & goes, my issue is as a recreational player with a job and family I don't always have the hours available to commit to tournaments. So I do venture onto the cash tables and I am a terrible cash player, the problem for me is I find myself migrating to the fastforward/zoom tables too often and this isn't healthy for my bankroll!!

it depends on the amount you spend on the game, if you have limited resources, it is certainly better to play tournaments
