I never avoid direct answers to questions because I generally don't care much what others think of me. It's not that I'm that self-confident, it's just that other people's opinions don't affect my life position or my goals in any way.

Yes I openly say I play poker ♥️.. never experienced prejudices… and yes once someone understands the game deeper, their whole perspective usually changes. Or when they see you cashing 💰 out without investing any

I don’t really hide that I play poker. Most people just see it as a hobby anyway. The only time it feels social to me is at live tables because you actually talk to people and read personalities a bit. Outside of that, especially online, it’s mostly just another thing I do on my computer.

I don't hide it, but I don't feel the need to bring it up all the time. Like OP says, not many people understand how the game has evolved over the last 20 years. They still envisage some shady cowboys in the smokey backroom of a saloon bar with a whiskey and a revolver within arms reach.

Personally, I don't hide the fact that I play poker, but I understand perfectly what the author means. Because my dad showed me what poker is, my parents are understanding, but when my wife's parents first heard the word "poker" from me, I had this reaction—I practically moved the furniture out of the house.

I don't hide it, but I avoid talking about playing because I don't find it productive. Like, you tell them about an amazing hand you played and they look at you with that blank expression.

I recommend that you don't hide it. It's not wrong as long as it doesn't harm you.

But talking about poker with someone who doesn't know the game is kind of frustrating for me. The problem is that I don't have many acquaintances who know the basics about the game, so I end up not having anyone to talk to much about it.

Good morning! All well here. How about you?
Coming to the point, my family knows that I play poker! I haven’t hidden this from them!
On the other hand, it’s better not to discuss it with your outside circle unless and until someone pops-up with the same liking!
I suggest keeping it to yourself if you don’t want random people judging you unnecessarily every now and then!
And yes one fine day, if you achieve something big then it’s fair enough to disclose it proudly!
