You need a valid strategy, based on earlier games without it it would be pure luck. You need to run good too, especially on MTTs and such.

When you look at the cards in a tournament, luck is a big factor. Whether you play a tournament where the strongest hand you get is A10 in two hours or play one where you get AA three times in a row, there is a difference (whether you win with them is another matter). I think we all know that there are days when “the force is with us” and there are days when no matter what we do, we just can’t win.

The aspect of poker that everyone wishes is on their side, whether; you believe in it or not or call it something else...

When a player defies the odds and nails a one-outter, you can call it what you want but many would say that LUCK was not just with them but hit that player in the face. Of course, some players seem to have more than their fair share or, as they say, "just make very profitable decisions". Whatever it is, probability seems to take a back seat to Lady LUCK.

This is part of poker, LUCK is here to stay and a part of the game that many people cling to when their back is against the wall of their spider senses are tingling!

When it matters most, you definitely want a piece of it and believe in it wholeheartedly - LUCK

Honestly, every time I hear someone say “Poker is a game of skill, not luck,” I feel like inviting them to sit with me at my tables for a while… maybe they'll change their mind after their first bad beat 😂
I truly believe luck makes up 90% of success in poker. The other 10%? A mix of praying, staying calm, and knowing when to shut your laptop before you lose your dignity.
You’ve got people out there living by GTO charts, running range calculations, studying solver outputs like they’re in a lab. Respect to them — seriously. But let’s be real: when someone calls you down with 7-2 offsuit and magically hits a flush on the river… no amount of strategy is gonna save you 😅
Poker is a game of luck with a strategic disguise — not the other way around.
Play it right, you still lose. Play it crazy, sometimes you win. That’s the game. So spare us the lecture on elite strategy, and just hope the deck shows you some love for once 😄

Of course luck is a part of the game in some races and all of that. But strategy is much more important in my opinion.
Because everyone can be lucky but not everyone can play strategic poker in a big tournament

Luck is part of the game , but online the manipulation of pot odds and rng plays the most important role , that's why joker stars and bingo clowns have very good winning results . You can watch them the way they play one blind or two or three blinds or 4-20 blinds stacks and how they get rewarded by rng everywhere . Their gameplay is just funny to me , it doesn't irritate me at all . Only annoying is when you discuss this with people that deny it . These discussions are really stupid .

Def. luck is a huge part.

I once saw someone live who got dealed AA 6 times within 2 hours. He still busted 'cause he was fairly new though.

Skill however is the thing that can make you profitable long term.
