I'm always playing and on Christmas and New Year's days I look for tournaments for those holidays. I don't take vacations, I like to play all year round.

I'm coming back after 3 months off, it's not good to play continuously.

I actually play poker every single day. It has become part of my daily routine and I genuinely enjoy the challenge and the constant learning that comes with the game. Whether its a short session or a few hours, I almost always find time to play. The only exception is during the Christmas holidays. Thats when I usually have family and friends visiting, and I like to put poker aside for a few days. Spending quality time with them is more important, so I take a little break, enjoy the holidays and then get right back to playing once things settle down. :sneaky:

I play whenever I can, but when I'm on vacation I definitely don't play poker.

I play all year round, but I'm starting to get fed up with poker; there are so many bad beats, and it’s disheartening. Losing repeatedly to "runner-runner" hands is tough.

Certainly, I think these breaks during the year are very important to rest and enjoy the family. Like all work, the proletarian has the right to take a vacation. Just plan ahead.

I play all year round, but I mainly participate in small tournaments and freerolls. Playing recreationally allows me to maintain consistency without overdoing it, thereby avoiding mental fatigue.

Take a break during vacations and around Christmas to spend time with family and recharge.
Poker will always be there, and coming back refreshed is often better than trying to grind through the holidays.

I definitely take breaks during holidays and vacations. Stepping away from the tables helps prevent burnout and keeps the mind sharp when I return.

I take two weeks off from playing, usually in the summer.

I dont play, if I am traveling on vacation somewhere, since that would defy the whole purpose of taking such a trip. But if I am home, then I play almost every day. Some days more, some days less, depending on other tasks and my mood. In general obviously more in weekends than working days.

I make pause on some holidays and if I'm on vacations. And if I'm sick...then I don't play for some days. But I play not on every day in week. My days for playing are friday and saturday

Honestly, when I'm on vacation, I may not play online as much. But I am in Las Vegas usually when I go there, so I do play some online. Vacation usually is playing poker. Unless it's a staycation. Do I take off, say, Thanksgiving or Christmas? Those are probably actually the two days I may. Christmas, I never play on. It's about family. Why would I want to play poker? I mean, in all honesty, poker isn't the most important thing in the world. My kids are. Thanksgiving, it depends on what's going on. But in recent years, the way things changed since COVID, I probably won't play on Thanksgiving anymore either. I used to stay home and watch all the kids while the family went out Black Friday shopping. The kids would go to bed, older one might be watching TV, and I'd hit the poker tables. But not anymore.

As a happily married guy for 10+ year now I gotta say I think she has some very serious potential to be the one man. Provided she not too crazy :ROFLMAO: she has my stamp of approval at least. A little crazy is ok thou......we're all at least a little crazy. All joking aside any woman that doesn't give you shit for your hobbies or about playing poker is a good woman.

As for the original question. I play all year round thanks to great wife. The only time I won't play is when I'm vacation or travelling. Pretty much the same as Fundiver199 above if I can find the time daily. Sometimes I'll take longish breaks from playing...poker is only a hobby and a side hustle.

Cheers!!!

I don't play poker myself or take personal breaks, but looking at professional poker schedules worldwide, most serious players do not play at peak volume all year long. Instead, they structure their calendar around seasonal tournament series, soft player pools, and essential periodized rest to avoid burnout.

I've been playing poker off and on for about 26 years. At first, I tried to take it seriously, but eventually I realized I'd never be a winning player. Now I treat poker as entertainment, which is probably why I play freerolls.

I play throughout the year, but I don't force myself to play every day. If I'm feeling tired or not focused, I'd rather take a short break than play my B-game. A fresh mind always leads to better decisions at the poker table. ♠️
