To be honest my friend - who cares?
Poker is global business and the past time of many presidents and famous people and not so famous people.
Poker will be around for a lot longer than me and you so if its something we love - who cares what other people say or feel :)

If, unfortunately, poker has a bad reputation in the elderly. A poker player is judged without knowing that it is a sport that requires a lot of concentration and study. Hopefully one day those thoughts about this beautiful sport will change.

Well before it is misinterpreted I will say my point of view, In movies, games, series, general culture, etc. poker is seen as an addiction where those who play it are mostly criminals such as traffickers, mafia, murderers that everything that involves playing it is a perdition, that for example for older people continue to think the same since it has been instilled in them that the poker or card game is bad, which are illegal gambling where several governments prohibit or restrict poker, so I ask you according to your point of view, does poker no longer have a bad reputation? For me it is a sport like chess.
Poker is a game like any other. It has its share of luck and the math employed.
In my view, the only problem is the corrupt people who run the casinos and the software. Then everything goes down the drain.

Sport definition

cindymagaly said:
If, like chess, it is considered a sport-science because you require a certain level of mental dexterity, a good strategy and tactics like other contact sports, if you don't have a strategy and you don't know some important fundamentals of poker, you're not going to get far, you need some strategy and being able to modify or maintain it with respect to the players you face. It's not just luck, it's knowing how to play, that's why professional players usually win or go far in tournaments.

The definition of sport includes “physical exertion”…I give you that sitting and playing for long periods of time can be physically exhausting, but I struggle to agree that it requires physical exertion to play either chess or poker. Would playing a board game be a sport? R.I.S.K for example? (Sorry maybe this conversation should be it’s own thread?)

Yes

In my family yes, because they always merge the Casino chance games with poker´s image, however I know it is a sport and I treat it as it is.

My friends have a negative attitude towards the fact that I play poker. I am for online poker. You can kill opponents in offline poker)))

I think that only people who have been involved know what it is like, it is seen as a hobby and they hardly see it as a profession, in the same way even though they see that you earn money they see it as luck nothing else, that perception I have and it is what I have lived:jd4::jd4::jd4::jd4:

Like a game - I think the reputation of poker is good. But only if we talk about the game. With regard to online games, not only poker, I, like many people, of course, may have doubts. But this is a question of a different nature, and has nothing to do with the principles of the game.

Hello everybody.
I believe that if the game brings pleasure, makes you think, learn, then it cannot be illegal.

Never thought poker had a bad reputation. Poker is a game for patient and disciplined players, so personally I see only positive in this game.

Well here it never really had a bad reputation. But then here is a 'healthy' bookmaker culture, people like to gamble. I'd say the only thing that is looked down upon are slots. But playing the lottery, sports betting, poker etc., the attitude is more in line with 'if it floats your boat,..'

The reputation of poker in a particular country depends on how much people are aware of the game of poker !!!

I think casino gambling has a bad reputation. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with online poker, because I think it's a great pastime. Ignore the critics who say that poker is evil.

I don't know, I never thought about it. I believe that poker is better than betting and playing casino poker. You are playing against real people. This is different. I love poker.

In recent years the way of seeing poker has changed, this with respect to people who have never played this sport. Those of us who play know that it is a sport of skill. As for addiction, it is already something that depends on the person

where there are bets, gambling and excitement, there will always be a bad reputation, perhaps society is not ready to accept poker as a serious sport or work, since there is risk and there is no stability.

Generally speaking , gambling has a bad reputation. I know many people that have lost everything to gambling, so there is something to that. What would you say if your daughter came to you to say she was giving up college to be a pro poker player?

The bad reputation of poker is made by people who are not ready for painstaking work on mistakes. Those who believe that only they have the right to win and no one else.

Yes, and always will be.

It's a game that involves "Luck", there is always the possibility of cheating in underworlds.

It's something beyond anyone's control.

I never thought poker had a bad reputation. People who play may have a bad reputation but the game itself is essentially just a game, entertainment for adults and adequate people.

Poker can have a bad reputation due to the fact that bots play in large tournaments, and as for freerolls and small tournaments, then everything is in order, the players have no pretensions, I think.
