He's probably just tilted because he had to make a big laydown or something, it's hardly the first time he's gotten a bit, erm, "emotional" during a big tournament.

Personally, the wire service's attempts at explaining how a poker tournament works tilt me a lot more than Hachem's comments.

As to how this hurts his marketing potential, I don't think it'll do anything.

For one thing, it's vastly outweighed by all his positive achievements. He's far and away the most successful of the Stars-sponsored ME winners and even if he never wins another major tournament again he'll have a steady stream of opportunities with Australian B&M casinos and poker media for the rest of his life. Srsly, he's the god of poker down here.

And to the best of my knowledge he doesn't really get into coaching or writing books, so meh.

For another thing, who's about the most famous person in poker? Phil Hellmuth. What's he famous for? Pissing and moaning. Case closed.

Here is how I look at it..... Everybody paid their $10,000 and they are entitled to play how they wish. At the same time, Joe Hachem is entitled to his opinion just as everybody else is.... Freedom is speech.

hey folks how are you all,,good good ,i hope y'all arent having a jab at joe hachem here in these forums cause ,,well hey let me introduce myself im steve im just an "average joe" (not referring to hachem) i play btween pokerstars and full tilt maimly but am just recently staring to explore Ultimatebet also i play more than 50hrs a week online and live in about 4 tournaments a week so majority of my time playing poker is online...i have an open mind about differrent opinions and am always keen to hear just another side of things as a person im easy going and quite respectful and i try to take this to the tables with me when i play poker especially in important events.........glad to join cardzchat as i have noticed this community in lobby's across the different sites i use,,will be keen to meet y'all.......now back to joe'y hachem my opinion on the bloke is that he is a gentleman fully respectful to play poker with a great pokermind and being a natural of reading body language and combines this well with a very solid sortve "hard to KNOCK' player that will use his stack to the best of ITS ability not always his ability he is great to watch a a fine character when he is in form and on top of his game...i love the bloke and i say it proudly that he is one of my faourite pro's amongst all of the names on the pro curcuit..

Didn't he have like a 5-1 or 7-1 chip lead though and was HU for hours? And wasn't he on a bully bluff or something? I could be wrong.

Completely different. It was heads up and (more importantly, for this argument) Hachem had already made the straight when the money went in.

cguru: Bitch...Bitch...Bitch....I don't think hyper aggressive play is desrespectful after all its NO LIMIT HOLDEM !! it may make it harder to get a "read" on them but in poker you have to have paitence and be able to adjust your game to events/people/play around you at the table and besides Donks also have money to buy those chips to play ...you just have to figure out how 'n when to take the chippies from them.

My take on this.. It seems hashem would notice a difference In playing style year to year.. Maybe he's noticing a trend? The disrespect comes in when old pros like Barry greenstein raises he's standard 3BB.. And you have some amateur fist pumping an over sized reraise with a marginal hand.. You may not know this at the time but it can make your play hard becuase the time you 3 bet they may show up with a hand. Not many people would just openly reraise Barry greenstein with any pp or broadway cards... Basically respect the old schoolers learn to play levels and don't bust all your chips so early.

He didn't play too many pots and patiently waited for good hands. Joe Hachem eventually came from behind to win the 2005 WSOP main event after he knocked out Steve "Bloody Mary" Dannemann. Hachem flopped a straight with 3-7o. Danneman moved all in with A-3 when an Ace spiked on the turn. Steve Dannemann won $4,500,000 for his stellar work. Joe Hachem won his first WSOP bracelet.

Looks like my recollection was wrong. But this still isn't the same thing he's complaining about. HU is a completely different thing with reads, etc.

He really does have a point...how many times have we seen someone go all in first hand with A 6? It would be different if they were in a brick and mortar casino and had to walk to another tourney for sure. But the old timers probably said the same thing about his generation and the way they played. But what does it really matter??? It gets him closer to the money so he should sit back and enjoy it.

Maybe it's just my national pride kicking in, but I've gotta take issue with that. Sure he has a rant from time to time, and he absolutely says "one time" too much.

But to say that he's always disrespectful? C'mon, seriously...
