Drunk Poker?

drunk poker is a bad idea for most I think. a drink or 2 while playing is a different story.

I like to get drinks for people I am playing poker against rather than drink myself. I usually drive to poker events to have an excuse not to drink, not that I am a big drinker anyways.

The worst thing that happened to me was one time after a party I came home and had a few more drinks, played online (at a higher stake than normal of course) and won. Then of course come the overconfidence tilt, and then I had the impression that not only can I play poker drunk, I play great poker drunk. Of course when I tried to replicate the results, I lost it all. Or maybe I lost it all because I wasn't drunk enough?

Hell now that I think of it, the best time I placed in my local freeze-out, I was drunk. I gotta finish this post before I talk myself into drinking more when I play.

I shouldn't advise playing drunk poker. If you are drunk, the attention is gone of the game.

I usually do not play while drinking when I’m playing online but if it’s a game with friends for fun then yes I have a few but only because it’s just for fun. Alcohol can be a bad mix for some people especially if they are playing big money.

Alcohol is an unhealthy cituation, and does not help you to anything, including poker!

If you're trying to take poker at all seriously I'd suggest against playing while drunk, but if it's a hobby and you just want to have fun, why the hell not? Sometimes playing the loose strategy can be very profitable.

when I drink I take a lot of risks. I feel unbeatable and sometimes feel everyone else is bluffing. it's been mostly bad beats

I did play drunk some times, but never exceeded expectations really. At some point I am getting tired or stop focussing and start spewing
chips. Which ofc can result in good things, but mostly it has negative effects:/
although as a german i like beer

When I drink, I get a little more liberated bravely, sometimes I take a risk, but it's not always useful to my bankroll

I agree totally. I’ve seen this happen with some of my friends before. It’s a bad combination.

Best without any drinks, except water and soybeans, of course, if you have alcohol in the cards you play on cards that you would not play to be sober.
my advice to you is alcohol-free

My brother would build up a nice bankroll, get drunk then lose all of what he won. I don't recommend it being good thing. Having a drink or three is one thing, getting drunk is another.

I drank socially when at a home games, casinos, but reflecting if I've ever played online and drank, never. It's not that I never drank alone, but online things move very quick and the kind of distractions I like are background noise, they keep me balanced, alcohol / online poker, not interested, but let me know when you win a tournament drunk lol :angel:
