I usually do this or that action based on rational thinking, because this way at a long distance allows you to stay in the game and get into prizes. But there is a feeling that you face only because of the fact that you have a small stack and except for the push or fold strategy there is nothing you can do.

Heart or brain

Go with what you know, skill and know how is a given but sometimes you take a chance on your gut feeling and go for it. There is no control over one who is bluffing and it is nearly impossible to breakdown heart or brain unless you know you have the winning hand. Everyone bluffs so in the end I would recommend skill over heart just saying. Capo1014

Following your heart means following your feelings. Feelings are confirmed by emotions and therefore intuition is above our feelings. Basically, I do the same on the advice of intuition, but it is also necessary to connect a logical solution in exact sciences and games. Intuition also tells you when you are mistaken in your actions in any business during the day.

I prefer to listen to my brain but if I'm in a situation where it's not explainable I would listen to my heart.

Honestly, I try for this and that, but it's better in this game, of course, for the brain :) :) :)

Always stick to the brain. Emotional decision, obviously in poker, are the bad ones. Most times in life, too. :) that's why we have a brain :D

heart or brain

professional poker players know that they have to master the skills, know the mathematics of poker and be brilliant at the psychological part of poker however it is not very often that you face a situation in poker that your brain can not make the decision clearly and makes two way for you go in or fold on that time you should make your decision with heart and go with your guts

I try to always be rational (thus brain) when playing poker as any time I played emotionally (heart) it costs me money. But every player is a story for himself. This is just my experience.

Hello, Everybody! I'm by character is intuitive person, therefore I'm first of all listen my intution, and only in more important
occasions, as in Life, so in Poker, I'm gradually and consistently do analysis in my head: try to find "golden mean" between
intuiton and mind in my decision. Sometimes this is very interfere me, but eventually I more believe my feelings...
This checked out of my life experience!:)

Can you give me an example of a decision that is made with the heart?
All decisions are made with the brain.
Or do you mean calling someone down when logically, you should fold? Or vice-versa, where you are folding where logic would say you should call/raise/shove?

I think we sometimes ignore the brain...but that is not the same as going with the heart as the heart pumps blood, not sense.

I don't think we should attribute making bad decisions to playing from the heart. That is the same thing as saying I just guess, with no strategy, or logic. That, my friends is gambling.

I don't gamble...much.
:)

Both, but the heart gets me in trouble more and cost me chips. Once in a while it works but your brain should tell you "you got lucky".

Your heart and head speak different languages, but they’re both trying to guide you. It’s up to you to know how to listen to them both and make a wise choice. None of us are perfect at it.

I prefer to call it your gut instincts, I am always getting into situations that my brain tells me to fold that K/3 suited or A/2 off against an all-in shove, after all besides a flush draw I really only have 1 over card but sometimes I get a curious feeling in my gut that tells me to call.
Sometimes I follow my Brain and fold, other times I follow my Gut and call, it all comes down to how strongly you feel about your chances.
I was once heads up against a player who pushed all-in pre-flop and without looking at my cards I called, he turned A/K off and I turned over 6/2 off he laughed and said how stupid I was calling without looking and the flop and turn did nothing for either of us, then the river came a 2 giving me a pair and I said who is stupid now and laughed as I took him out and won the game. I said to him if I had looked I would have folded the 6/2 but by not looking I won.
Call it luck! call it Gut Instinct! whatever it was it was all good for me.

I could be much better and make better results, if I could permanently use only the brain. I think earlier or later everyone have moments, days, when emotions play the game... it is not a coincidence, they have the word 'tilt'....

Follow your gut feeling

As they say bet with your wallet (brain) NOT your heart, LOL
As others have said using logic is the best rule to follow thus knowing odds etc. However after playing at a table with the same players and seeing their trends in betting following your gut works often. Don't bet the ranch on a gut feeling but don't be afraid either to follow your instincts.

GL ALL :D

I say the answer is both. Take your time, take a breath, weigh your options and then decide.
I do not play because I want to be the greatest in the world. I play because I love this game! Who knows maybe that is why I say use both but I can say it works very well for me.

Follow your gut

The heart can be effected by emotions and can sometime cloud ones judgement. The brain reacts to stimuli which can be controlled by other people surrounds and thought process that may or may not have been generated by true or false information fed to it. Following your gut which has no attachment to any of the above discribed scenarios will give you a more resulute answer more often than not if you can train yourself to trust your gut intuition at least that's always been my case
