Welcome to the General Poker Forum!

This is a brief summary of what should and shouldn't be posted here. Why does this matter? It helps keep each section of the forum organized and easier to use for all members.

What should be posted here:
Topics with general poker content that aren't covered by any of the other forums. This may include, but is not restricted to...
  • Poker queries not related to strategy issues (such as issues with rules, questions regarding poker literature, and so on).
  • Topics regarding poker on TV.
  • General poker narratives.
  • Any other topic relating to poker, in general, that does not fall under the specifics of any of the other poker forums.
What should not be posted here:
Each section of the forum has a brief description detailing the types of topics that belong in those sections. A good rule of thumb is to take a moment and read them to determine where your topic belongs before posting.

This has been updated and I encourage all members - new and long term to read it.

We move multiple threads from this forum daily - please make sure you check carefully before creating a thread in this forum to ensure it is the correct place for your topic.

"This is a brief summary of what should and shouldn't be posted here, so that we can hopefully keep having to move threads around to a minimum. New and old members alike should take note of this - there is still a lot of threads being found that need to be moved."
It is good to know, this topic may help me a lot in the future.

Finding a LOT of threads in this forum that should be in other forums. Please take the time to review the first post in this thread. 🙂

Thanks

Thanks for the guidelines, looking forward to contributing!

Tips:

If the word "tournament" is anywhere in your thread title or first post there is very little chance your post belongs in General Poker instead of Tournament Poker.

If any poker site is in your thread title or in your post - there is only a small chance it belongs in General Poker instead of Poker Rooms.

If your post is a strategy related questions - there is not much chance it belongs in General Poker instead of Tournament Poker, Cash Games or Learning Poker.

If your post has nothing to do with poker - there is zero chance it belongs in General Poker instead of somewhere in the General Discussion section which includes The Player's Lounge and other non-poker forums.

Book Excerpts

From time to time, I would like to post poker advice from my latest book, HALLOWED HOLD'EM POKER. I mention the book to show that it has some merit behind it.Would this be considered spam?

If you are using an excerpt from your book to start a strategy discussion that is fine. But if all you do is post your excerpt with no other discussion in the post then that is not fine.

You would also be expected to return to your threads and engage in the discussions.

So I might be slow because I still don’t understand. Let’s say I just want to talk about a poker experience that I had recently. Where would i post that?
