You must learn when to start and when to end your game. It was very good that you won, but then you must know when this profit ends. You can see and analyse the conditions every hand! Be patient!:captain:

We've all done it! Set a stop-loss and stick to it. You will feel better still having a bankroll the next day.

Yes I have lost it all in 1 night couple of times. Especially if I'm in a tournament and playing sit n goes to pass the time.

I'd like to point out that you can ONLY ever lose your entire bankroll in one night/day/session.

Let's say you started with a $1000 bankroll on Monday.. you play each day until Friday, and now your BR is at $100. If you lose that $100 on Friday, you lost your entire roll in one day. Each day prior to Friday had an affect on your BR, but your bankroll is only whatever you have at any given time.

Now to make an actual point, and not just take up space in this thread...

Bankroll management is crucial to your success, and peace of mind, in your lifetime of playing poker. Whatever amount you have in your BR, you should choose a game/limit that suits that amount. In my example above if you started with $1k and now have $100 on Friday, then maybe it's best to jump down in limits.

Great explanation of BR management here: https://www.cardschat.com/poker-bankroll-management.php

I've done it a couple of times, but not recently. I got into a mindset that I was going to win it all back or go bust ... so I went bust.

You are definitely not the only one.
In the past I had a lot of similar situation.

I still can not believe that my AA's hand lost so many times though

I am sure that I have, when Istarted playing online poker some 15 years ago I knew nothing about BR management. I would always bust, reload and repeat hoping to become the next Daniel N after hitting a big score. This is the reason I had gotten out of poker for some time. Since my return to online poker I have begun a rule of not playing buyins more than 1 percent br, with exceptions once or twice a week as a treat for whi h I will usually try and win a stake for instead of treating myself out of my own br.

Yes! unfortunately i lost $ 300 last saturday playing the damn spin go

Those darn spins lol they get me everytime I suck at them. Had to stop playing them! I remember one time I purchased 10 at once thinking they would run one after another. They ran all at once, threw away a lot of money there.

Yeah I've lost my $100 BR in 3 weeks. I know its not as extreme as some, but still. I have since slowed down and tried to understand the player more. I try to take the logical course. Still get tilted when its not your night of poker.

Yes. Bankroll management takes a serious amount of discipline I've found. When you lose, it is so tempting to buy in again or to even increase risk in hopes of winning back what you lost and still profiting. More often than not however, this strategy will backfire. You must be able to ride both the highs AND the lows, and not let your emotions take over. This is what separates a lot of great players from the rest of the field.

my bankroll was busted in a single night but not by me, it was done by my roommate by playing and losing so many 50euro spin & go's, it was very tilting.:mad::mad:

I lost bankroll several times, and raised a freeroll. Now, too, I will start from freerolls.

Absolutely. Thankfully it was free play money on Global poker. I had turned $20 into $40 playing full ring with a low variance ABC playstyle. And last night made the mistake of playing at a loose fishy 6-max table (while mildly inebriated) and lost it all lol. One fish who bought in for minimum, would raise pre with any suited trash, to (I kid you not) 15bb. The other would play any suited hand and always hit his flushes vs. my set etc, 3 bet against almost all raises, and other ridiculous nonsense. I tilted so hard I basically gave the guy my stack. Should have done what the other regs did and just left that table after a few hands. This was NL10. Thankfully have never lost a bankroll playing NL2/4 but my bankroll started out at 30 buy ins and has gotten pretty juicy so at this point I don't think it's remotely likely to lose it, unless I move up the stakes.

As an aside, if you have the bankroll (and nerve) to play against the spewy fish at Global I think this site has massive profit potential because NL10 is their lowest stake. Their lack of anti-collusion and shitty bot catching security strongly concerns me though.

When I first started I have, a small one really but still did it. I have learned to most times take the ego out of my game.
My brother would do real well, then get drunk and play. Fastest way to lose your hard earned bank roll.

It was just a bankroll of 10 euros.
But got so many bad beats in a row, I tilted like hell and just throw it all out, going the whole time all-in.
Offcourse all gone, I really had a tilting problem back then.
When I restarted, the tilting was the first thing I took care of and now it's much better.

just take a break

like people said we’ve been all there, usually taking a break helps to cool down from tilt.

Luckily no. The closest thing, I have come, was very early in my poker career. I had deposited 100$ and played a mixture of 5-10NL well knowing, that up to 20BI downswings are to be expected. But the way I saw it, the rest of my bankroll was sitting in my bank account. It went well for a while, and I worked it up to 160$.

Then I played 10NL Zoom and lost 60$ in a few hours. During this session I went massively on tilt and actually wanted to play, until I had either lost it all, or recovered my losses. But after a while I came to my senses, stopped playing, took a week long break, and then decided, that the initial 100$ deposit was going to be my bankroll. So I moved down to 2NL and built it up from there.
