No and for a very simple reason, never play at tables that you cannot afford. If you gamble beyond your financial resources, you have many disadvantages. You play too fearfully and risk too little because you must not lose money under any circumstances. You should always assume that you can lose all the money that you take to a table and you have to deal with that. In no limit games that can happen in one hand. If you don't mind losing the money, you won't have suicidal thoughts either. Positive side effect you also play better because you don't shy away from the risk ;)

Well said, the warning signals are there if you get suicidal thoughts from playing poker, play with money you can afford to loose!

As crazy as it might seem there's real cases of people killing themselves because of gambling and poker, last one I heard about was that guy who loaned 40k to play and lost all of it and couldnt afford to play it

One advice I would give anyone who had similar problems is remembering your mindset is a thing to work on to be a better player, be smart work on yourself outside the tables go to a psycologist, exercise, read new stuff learn new things all of this can help you and if your feeling good and happy you can understand its just a hard time and it will pass, tomorrow might be a better day

Personally, I was pissed off and angry about to explode but never negative thoughts ... and I tried to spreader watching couch videos related to that type of behavior ... it helped me incredibly to learn that this is poker, full of variance ... I would say as advice that people who have this type of thoughts seek help from a professional so that they can say that this is how poker is ... days to win a lot and times to lose little ... if you want to dedicate yourself to this game and behave in a professional you have to learn that it is the game that has more variance ... we are human beings .. thoughts and reactions go and well. you have to transform them to watch. All as positive learning and that learning is long term ... good luck to all guys ... always positive minds ...

This question is very worrying. If someone thinks suicidal because of the losses in poker it is better never to play again. Poker should be fun and enjoyable. Ever!

In my opinion, people who have such thoughts are dangerous for themselves and for others. Moreover, I believe that such people should be isolated from others in special psychiatric institutions.

Of course not.

If a poker loss causes you to have suicidal thoughts, then you probably need to find another game or hobby to occupy yourself.

Poker losses happen all time.

Accept that and move on.

What a question. Of course not! Such people shouldn't play poker at all, I think so.

It never crossed my mind.
Life is not much more important than poker or anything.
We have our family, we have our work, friends ...
If one day someone thought about it or thinks about it, I want you to know that even though you are alone, there is Jesus who loves you and wants you very well.
God bless you all

Here's the coping mechanism that I use. Rather than getting depressed - I get really, really pissed off at the lucker who took all my chips/money by playing stupid and beating insurmountable odds.

I do my best to avoid the emotions. Sometimes can't help but call donkey though.
Usually at that point my tournament is just about done anyway.

I hope anyone that DOES have suicidal thoughts about poker losses, goes for some real help. Therapy is not a bad start. Sometimes cheaper.
Suicidal iteration and ideation are signs of real illness. An illness that needs treatment.
If you do suffer at all from those thoughts, please ask for help. No one who is a professional will belittle you for that. And neither would I

I will let this be known freely. I suffer from long term depression. All my 5 decades. I get through it with therapy and medication. But the first 3 decades without knowledge was worse than needed to be.
