How Does Alcohol Effect Your Game? Better or Worse?

I'm more likely to make risky bets while drinking alcohol and therefore I'm more likely to lose.

Famous players sank into the drink and lost all their money. In bets and binges. As the old saying goes, money that comes easy, goes easy. So be very careful when mixing drinks with poker. First review your goals. If your goal is to have fun, drink them all and don't be angry if you lose money. At least your money is going to one of your friends and the fun of the night is already worth the money you spent. If your goal is to make money, my advice is to put alcohol aside. Or at least drink one here and there and no exaggeration. But I no longer know if your fun will be the same as that of your drunken friends. I guarantee that I had a lot more fun than my friend who had to drive home sober.

Alcohol has never helpedmy game as far as I know, a beer or maximun 2 keeps me relaxed, but my experience is that it is always better to play without if you want to win in the long run.

I believe it is also a bit indivudual, so know your self and your limits, then do as you please

To be honest i can,t believe, that you can play poker well, even if you are just taking 1 beer or something like that.
If you want to play serious games and want to win something, just don,t do that, because this will not help you.
I can,t believe, that this can relax you and you can play better.
If you want some beer and still want to play some poker, just open some freeroll games.

I think its better for me cause sometimes its pushing me to make a risky decisions which i wont make otherwise 😃 the drink of gods is good for me with playing 👍💪

A little alcohol is a good thing up to a point

I find that a beer or 2 seems to enhance my thinking process ( memory)..But after 3 or 4 i reach diminishing returns. Keep it in your low range(whatever that is for you!

Every now and then, with a beer, poker is better...
After two or three more beers, my partner actually plays better than he does without him... Peculiar...

It's the same with live betting, if you drink 2 or 3 beers you can win pretty good amounts 😁

I do not think anything that is to be taken seriously should involve alcohol <3 So I guess it depends on how serious you take poker <3

Alcohol and me dont mix on the table at all. I get to loose and gambly and forget about strategy. Dont drink and play lol

an atomic bomb .... to my way of looking .. alcohol and gambling should not be mixed .. because you lose in a certain way the instincts of the game. when making decisions 90% will be wrong combinations .. because your mental capacities will not be in the perfect state of decision..in the personal clear. respecting criteria ... the game (s) should be played without any amazing things that cause us to do things that lead us to failure..all games deserve respect and so on we respect ourselves and our opponents ... which in the long term will be confirmed if we do things right ... let's try not to mix anything ... it's just a game ... luck, you make your best decisions

I tend to make over-aggressive mistakes when boozed.

I never have alcohol when I play but will have a beer or 2 of 0% alcohol at a slow pace so not to have to run to the bathroom.

Probably not a good combination. I don’t drink and play poker. Alcohol, in moderation, will likely not cause huge changes in your play, but depends on your tolerance, I guess. For me, I play mostly in the evenings, when I’m often already a bit tired. One beer typically makes me drowsy at that time of day, so I would likely be falling asleep at the table if I imbibed. Better choice for me would be coffee or caffeinated tea—stay awake drinks.

I think i play better after a half bottle of chardonnay !

Alcohol harms your game. it may seem that after a small portion of alcohol you lose your shyness, and play bolder, even win. but a little over the line - and your bankroll is melting before your eyes. be careful when combining poker and alcohol.

After a dozen or so experiments, I find that alcohol is not a good adviser and in the long run I do not recommend it to anyone, although there are probably its supporters

I totally agree. Personally I never drink when I play poker. Alcohol makes you take bad decisions, although that sometimes may work out in your favour.

I don't want to drink alcohol while playing online poker because when I tried it once, I feel sleepy and lost my chips.

Fully depends on the person and how much they are tolerant. There are very few times, online anyway, where I am playing and not drinking. I usually always have a drink next to me playing poker unless it is a morning session. Personally I drink everyday so I know how it affects me and how fast it affects me. Im generally a very slow savory drinker so I know it does not really affect my game until I get to the 3rd drink which is usually 4-5 hours into a session. There have been times when I know it is affecting my game and thats when I turn off the drinking and you just have to have self control to do that. Obviously if you have no control over your drinking you wont have control over yourself or your game.

I will say one thing though many might not think about and that is (I have done this in the past) is that I drink somewhat heavily while playing as a training tool for my brain. I knowingly drink too much and still try to concentrate during long sessions. I use this as an "exercise" for mind in a way that if it can handle the alcohol and long session and still be focusing how much more prepared will the mind be when I am drinking little and it is a shorter session. Its like running 5 miles when you know there is a mile race coming up. Your brain will be more used to being asked a lot of so that when times are easier for it, it can handle it better. That might be flawed thinking and of course dont drink to you blackout or anything like that but I believe it can be used as a training tool for your mind.
