if you play a tournament as a recrational you can win it, now playing regularly at the tables is never going to be profitable for a recreational without a game strategy

I think depends on the player and how much do you study, play and want to learn more about the game itself, but there´s no limits if you are a smart player

With ACR and The Venom you can win a million dollars for free. They give you plenty of chances to do it. Anyone can a tournament if you get lucky enough.

I can not call winning few $ here and there earnings but for little more than 2 years i am around 60$ ahead. Most of these are from freerolls though so nothing to speak of. Well at least i am not at minus.

You could say recreational player as well as a hobby, and being that way it all depends on the time you give it. If you are participating in a low buy-in tournament, the minimum is 2 hours, and if you want to get more profit, you should participate in higher buy-in tournaments, therefore the time will be longer, at least 5 hours.
For all this, the formula would be:
The more time + earnings.

excellent question, everything that is profit when you are an amateur player is great (having fun and making a profit), putting a number is difficult, it varies in the amounts you play.

As a recreational player, whatever the game costs you has to be worth it. We're not all Chris Moneymaker, most of us will be permanently in the red column over our lifetime. If you enjoy the game you'll always have wins. There will be months when you cash some out and long spells when you wonder why you bother, but as a player for near 20 years I'm begging you not to see poker as a way to make quick $$$s, play because you enjoy it and see what comes.

There are many good recreational players who, if they tried to play professionally, would win good amounts.
But a professional player needs time, discipline and focus. Something that few players can do.

In my opinion, an ordinary amateur player can earn from 1$ 1 to10$ with a basic knowledge of poker, but an amateur with a good knowledge of mathematics can easily develop his winnings from 10$ -100$

Most rec players lose money. They are the donors who make the poker economy possible. Others study the game in enough depth and get skilled enough to eke out a profit. How much can you make? As much as a professional, hypothetically. But to do that you'll be working as hard as they do.

I was thinking it would be nice to make an extra $250 a month, but then realities hits in. You gotta work full time hours on off shifts to make any money. You gotta be willing to go into the hole alittle first and hope the cashes offset. I dont know what the golden age was like but this age it seems like a lot of work.

If you have a huge bankroll , you can make $1k monthly if you're a decent player. Then I would start with $10k bankroll.
