How would you build a meaningful bankroll?

Play for free and save, that's the formula for everything. If you put in enough effort and save every dollar you earn in an account, in a year you can accumulate enough to play in a satellite tournament. But the hard part isn't winning by playing free tournaments; the hard part is saving and not wasting the money.

Yes, I did. The most recent it is on GGPoker where I'm playing freerolls and daily freebies. On average I win (earn) 100$ in a year. If I had more time and motivation to grow this into more meaningful amount and play 1-10$ MTTs then we would see if I can built it even more.

But for now, I'm withdrawing it once every two years.

If you start from scratch, it will simply take much longer. I was successful, but it took a long time.

Starting with freerolls is cheap and low risk, but if you consider the value of your time- if you're trying to treat poker like a job your hourly is going to be so ridiculously low you would probably be better off just getting a minimum wage job somewhere or selling lemons on the side of the road. You will make more than grinding freerolls for a few cents at a time.

If you'd just be playing videogames or bedrotting watching twitch or scrolling social media then it might be a decent option.

Starting small with $50 to 100 provides so much more wiggle room. Downswings happen and losing the entire last few months (or years) of poker grinding is a lot harder to swallow than a single 8 hour shift at work. Proper bankroll management is crucial but when you're at the bottom stakes already... where are you going to go? There is not option to play lower stakes. Sometimes you just need to reload and re-calibrate.

The only two crucial factors required to build a steady bankroll are Patience & Discipline!
Most of the players use the decent amount of prize money they win from Freerolls very hastily (like the immediate next day and lose)!
Paid tournaments should only be played if you have 10 hours at a stretch (completely free) with no one to disturb you!
Many players don’t actually value the prize money they win from Freerolls since there’s zero investment involved!
I won some odd $20 from a CC WPT Freeroll last month!
I’ve still kept it in my wallet since I was too busy with my work and was not in a position to devotee my full focus for a paid tournament!
Finally I’m planning to enter a paid tournament today itself and hoping to have a good run!

I got busted early but still thank you so much for the wonderful words of encouragement!
And actually I work on weekends with heavy twin dad duties on weekdays so I won’t be able to try out the CC League!

when I joined cardschats. I started playing the free rolls on there they sponsored at Acr and built up my bankroll from 0 to quite a nice amount. I kept a good bankroll by playing $1 & $2 and $3 free rolls especially the games that pay out when you knocked someone out. SoI would basically win my money back, knocking someone out. Every time I got to 200 300 or 400 I would cash out half my winnings.. so basically I never lost anything.. and I when I won on cardschat I had it transferred to ACR. But that has come to end from cardschat not affiliated with them anymore. But I still keep a bankroll on there from what I have won.
