I’ve lost a lot in the past and had to learn some emotional self-discipline.
Often, after building up a bit of a bankroll, I start to relax and have a drink.
That’s when I begin making careless decisions, putting too much faith in mediocre hands.
I know it’s hard not to associate the pleasure of the game with having a drink and some snacks on the side.
But I always try to go against the grain to avoid giving in to temptation.

i voted yes and no , playing while drunk can be fun with friends but you have to make sure you were playing for fun and make a small bankroll for that specific session.

If I have the chance, I enjoy playing poker while drinking a beer. I don't drink any other alcohol when I play—just beer. It helps me relax a little, but it doesn't affect my decision-making.

I can control my emotions regardless of the amount of drinks, alcohol has never affected my personality, in fact, I believe that's an excuse people use to do stupid things and blame others. About playing poker while drinking, I've never done it, because I don't drink, I'm from the Zillennial generation, I'm fitness and I take care of my health.

I dont think, alcohol enhance my performance at the poker table, but I do regularly consume beer or wine while playing in the evening. If I start to feel intoxicated, I usually end the session.

Yes. I actually prefer playing without a drink. I think more clearly, make better decisions, and handle bad beats a lot better when I'm completely sober.

Actually, from a strategy standpoint you should be recommending to others that they drink as much as they can, so that it's easier for you to clean out all their chips

I like to play sober more, I'm more composed in this state. Alcohol relaxes me, I make more rash decisions and often lose.

When I say "I don't drink", it doesn't mean I've never had a drink in my life, currently I don't drink anymore, but I have consumed alcoholic beverages before and it never changed my personality. If for some reason I were to drink large amounts, the most that would happen is I'd get drowsy or pass out, it doesn't change my personality. People like to outsource their actions, they drink and do something stupid, then blame it on the alcohol.

If you consume alcohol, stay away from the poker tables, so you don't bet more than your conscience allows and you lose everything.

If I were playing tournaments that required an entry fee, I wouldn't drink alcohol. During a bad run or when I'm on tilt, I have a drink to relax and play freerolls or satellites; it’s not always about winning—someone who loves poker enjoys playing the game.

Many people lose control over their actions... many don't even recall doing the things that others suggested they did do. Many will blackout and recall nothing. It can happen... often.

IMO it depends on each individual, but yes I do agree with this statement and with most community members that poker and drinks don't mix well... did I play poker after and/or while having a few drinks? yes, mostly in home games or other 'fun' games and tbh it didn't affect my play that much and even made me loosen up a bit, but I'm just a casual drinker and I don't plan to change that

, still I have some friends that are much tougher to beat/play against after having quite a few drinks compared to when they are sober
