It's very challenging to consistently win more than $1,000 a month online these days. Very little action, and especially very few fish over 100 NLH.

Under 25 NLH, you can still find soft games. More so on certain sites at certain times, so you should play several sites and times.

But why bother unless you think poker is the most fun thing to spend your time with?

If you're smart enough to make regular money on poker (AND I DON'T MEAN FROM freerolls), you are probably smart enough to make much more money from different forms of Internet Marketing, for example.

Live poker is another story if you have access to good games.

online poker 2025 is for fun, a little pocket money, or a distraction. It can also serve as a training tool to sharpen your skills for the softer live games.

With a good strategy, you can earn a small additional income from playing poker. I used to do this, but unfortunately, almost all of my favorite poker rooms are now unavailable in my country, so I don't earn any income.

Been doing it now for 20+ years. So yes it's possible but depends on the amount one defines as extra income and the stakes one decides he's gonna play. I play mainly online 2nl-50nl full-ring cash(during the week) and on weekends I play $5-Sunday Million MTT's. I also only play 10+ min blind level MTT's to take as much luck outta the equation as possible.

Here's the things you need to be good at to be a long term winning player:
1) bankroll management.
2) Patience.
3) Mental toughness/tilt control.
4) Game selection.
5) Discipline.

Fwiw I play mostly a TAG style and exploitive. For MTT's I studied ICM and shove and re-shove ranges for 40bb and below. I also have never used a solver or studied GTO. Opened one once to have look and decided that's too dam much work for a hobby never opened again. Hell I haven't studied anything to advance my game in 15 years now. I do hand reviews to keep my game on track nothing more for studying.

Cheers!!!

Yes, of course. Many people do.

Even more people think that they can earn a decent side income, or even give up their day job, by playing poker, without having a true understanding of how much of a grind playing poker can be when you start to rely on the income.

Yes its possible to make extra money just play freerolls or for freeroll tickets but to make a living you need to play at a lot higher stake level and this means risking more money. In the 8 months I have come back to playing online I am up £1150, Two big wins £500 AND $473 the rest is small amounts.

Yes, you can make money in poker, but this is a significant success that requires training and discipline, especially in online poker, where the competition is high

There are faster ways for me to make some extra spending money than playing online poker. The thing is, online poker can be relaxing, which is fun for me because is takes away the need to make money aspect away from my playing.

It depends, first of all, om what country are you from. If you are from poorer countries and extra lets say 50-100$ a month will help you, then yes.

For example u can just play freerolls for a year cashout and buy smth like a phone or whatever. But you have to be passionate about it, enjoying poker, if you don't enjoy it i would rather do smth in crypto, there a lot of ways to earn some money there with low risks, or building YT channel to monetize it etc.

If you are from richer countries, where 100$ is a dust, u need at least 500-1000$ bucks a month to really call it extra income, but u need to be pretty decent player to achieve that, study, be patient etc.

without a doubt, yes, there are tournaments of different values and you choose how long you will play in the tournament.

It is possible, and it is actually not difficult to achieve. Provided that you have enough free time, because you will really need a lot of it.

The key here is what are your expectations. If this "extra income" you think about is $100 at average - yes, it is quite possible. If you rather mean $1000 - it would be extremely hard.

I mean online poker. Life it could be most probably easier, if you have the access to good games.

Just think about all those poker pros that live from playing poker, so yes, it is possible.

I think poker can be a good way to earn some extra income, especially if you set a clear goal like saving up for a new computer. It adds a layer of discipline and makes the grind more meaningful. Sure, I could just buy it with my regular income, but it's more satisfying to reach that goal through poker. That said, relying on poker for day-to-day living expenses isn't sustainable for most people—it’s too volatile and mentally taxing.

Yes, it is possible, but sometimes the time spent on winning is worth more.

I wish you all the best for your plan A and keep an eye on your bankroll
it is for sure possible to make an extre income, but only for a minority of pokerplayers. Where someone wins must be loosers on the other side. If I would have spent the time I spent on the pokertables with a paid work, I might be rich...
