The weird part is that this is a mix of 50nl and 100nl, and I'm actually up about $300 at 100nl and down as much at 50nl. Go figure...

ohhhh i forgot i said that

as i rambled earlier in the thread my 15-table experiment didnt go so well (although i think the results were about 75% running bad 25% too many tables), so that will need to go on hiatus.

a year ago i couldn't imagine 10-tabling so i'm sure i'll get there in the end.

plus my mic doesn't want to work with my new laptop.

sigh. last night i was down to final 7 tables of the $27.50 40k guaranteed which started with 2000+ entrants, internet then decides to go out for the rest of the night so i blind out in i guess 30 or 40somethingth, too annoyed with it to even check. 1st was $8k, ty internet

Well experiment's working, finally back to crushing poker again. I ran 3 buy-ins below ev today but it didn't matter because I was up 3 more anyway. Actually been focusing on playing good poker, started out running 16/14 but then when I realized isolating donks who don't fold postflop as well as preflop with trash doesn't work and ended up running around 15/12 today. Just feels a lot better and like I'm actually playing poker and thinking things through instead of just going through the motions. Told myself I'm gonna clear the 2k bonus, another 5k vpps or so, and then assuming I feel it's going well go back up to 200nl and do the same thing, cut down to ~12 tables, focus on playing poker, assigning ranges, etc. instead of just nitting it up and only tough decisions being "omg I have top 2 and villain raised, does he have a set more than he has TP/worse 2 pair here?". ok so I'm exaggerating a bit but I don't think 24-table stacking was a good idea. Probably close as to whether I gained/lost value doing it to chase the milestone but w/e it's done. I may not get the 100k vpps this month I wanted, but I'm hoping to at least stay pretty close to the sne pace and then if/when I move up can make up the slack there. Plus if there's a 2x vpp week I'll have no problem 20-tabling step sngs for the entire week for like 10 hours/day (ok slight exaggeration, but not all that much).

Oh also saw combu at the tables today. I guess I had stats on him from 2nl or something because he was like 45/35 or something? At first I thought he was just drunk and/or tilting or something but then realized he wasn't going all crazy when I was watching and then remembered we had 2nl hands together

You need to see implied odds of something like 7.5:1 as we flop sets 12.25% of the time. In other words you need to see a stack deep enough with both you and your opponent to justify a call.

Some people like to use 10:1 implied odds since that takes into account the factor that at times you can be drawing against a greater made hand like a bigger set.

So some folks will say with normal sized stacks a call of 4-5x the BB is not a mistake. But it depends on the situation at the table as usual. Sometimes you should be more careful, and sometimes it might be worth a couple more blinds of risk against a victim who is in a stacking off mood.

Stacks need to be about 14 times deeper than the bet I'm calling for me to set mine. Not only are you sometimes going to be up against a bigger set, but you're also not always going to get any action when you flop the set.

Tables are super fishy today. A relative absence of coolers has allowed me to undo the damage yesterday's mega session did. I'm even up a buy-in since yesterday morning. About to play another session. Out off teh wey, hear come teh rabbit.
