sly, your red line is actually 'supposed' to go down as the nature of the game kind of makes it so, so having a BE red line is actually like having a positive one. Nothing to scoff at :)

It has been my experience that the a more positive redline is tied to betting more aggresively both in frequency and size, causing you to take down pots w/o SD more often. I guess the trick to redline management lies in finding a balance between aggression, and spewing.

Also running bluff lines more and more successfully seems to have been the tipping point that put my redline positive. A breakeven redline is still a thing of beauty Sly. If I recall you're playing mostly 25nl, and it took me till I got to this level to find players you could make plays against enough to start to balance out the redline.

Also, just did the new lappy thing myself and still killing bloatware/installing proggies/customizing too. Win 7 is pretty.

Just got back from A.C., made $300 last night in a 5 hour session of 1-2 on a really loose, crazy table. I miss having a casino close to my house....can't wait for the table games to open up in PA in a few months.

I'll go one step further: Generally I think having a significantly positive red line in most 6-max NLHE games (I don't feel qualified in saying anything about FR) actually displays a leak. Consider this:

You have 9-8 and the board on the river reads T-9-5-2-2. Stacks are big relative to the pot. You're out of position, and the action thus far has been that you bet the flop, villain called, you checked the turn and villain checked back.

Betting here will give you a nice boost for your red line. But it's the wrong play.

The line between not value betting enough and inducing bluffs at the right times is often very thin, but when I see a reg betting 77 on a board like the one above, I can't help but wonder what they're trying to accomplish. "Turning your hand into a bluff" is, more often than not, just a really expensive way of getting a sexy red line.

Great points on the redline all, and thanks for the good wishes!

I made several changes in my game recently, been watching a lot of vids and thinking away from the tables - still testing the changes, but generally they seem to be working out, I feel sharper at the table.

FP, hadn't thought about it like that - my lifetime redline has such a nasty looking slope (awesome for skiing imo) that it's always been a sore point for me - great way to make the point that you, Chuck, and WV are making!

Outs, I had a major downswing last year at 100nl and took a break from NLHE the last two months - I play 25plo rather than higher limits cuz it's a new game for me and the variance is skyhigh - that graph is 5.5k hands at 50nl, rest at 100nl. I agree, it's very hard to manage the agg/spew balance at lower limits - which makes orange's graph all the more impressive imo! :D

You know something else... Your redline trend has something to do with your opponents almost as much as your own play. I think it might be almost impossible to get an upward trending red line at the lowest stakes, and a sexy red line might be a little more common for people who play a certain style against opponents who are smart enough to adjust, which might not happen until certain stakes.

But what do i know. I play low and don't even track my NSD winnings.

Getting a positive red line at the lower stakes is kinda like dancing the tango with a 4 year old.

FYP. and his results are a lot more impressive than mine.

my red line doesn't go up as much as it used to. it's a lot higher at FR than at 6max, because people fold more at FR. Also, a lot of it comes from being a nit preflop. The best hands you play like QQ+ are naturally hands where your red line goes through the roof. The hands you add when you lag it up are hands that decrease your red line and increase your blue line.

And i agree with FP. There are most likely leaks in there too.

Yeah def, i think my red line has a lot to do with an abundance of loose/tight passives at dafa which makes it very easy to win a pot w/o SD, although it maybe also be b/c the softwares rubbish and i have to play 5 tables max, less tables + loose/tight passives = more NSD winnings from exploiting more effectively??

I remember a time when I use to have like +/-5 buy in sessions. Now every session is just 10, 15, 20 buy in swings. Just swingy as hell lately but atleast the last 2 days have been positive swings.

My redline is positive, but my showdown isn't haha, I know which I would prefer, but i'm bad at poker anyways. I'm 15 buy-ins below ev but i'd still be a losing player anyways, meh i'm learning.

Sounds like you might be a little too agressive Lucky. If you are losing AND taking down lots of pots without a showdown, then you just need to learn to let go when your opponent is letting you know he is ahead instead of trying to force him out on the turn or river.

In otherwords you have to make an art out of folding!

Just a guess.

I think ratholin' is the way to go in Rush. Was just up 4 buy ins, end up going all in pre-flop with AA some knucklehead calls with 56s, turns a str8, back down to original buy in....ugh
