You mean you play AK that way? There seems to be something missing in your sentence. You wouldn't 4bet AK pre?
I meant why couldn't the flop be A63.

F Paulsson said:
I make this calldown against aggressive opponents because they're usually weary about betting 3 barrels AI with a hand like KQ, so when they shove the river they're polarized and their preflop call reduces the chance of them having AA/KK/AK. And him checking the flop is mostly a no-brainer since he won't get value from betting. And he can't fold once he checked, because his check induces bluffs. So, yeah. I think he played it fine, assuming you're aggressive enough to barrel off with stuff like AQ or JTs.
Well I don't think I usually am, I even told myself on turn "if he calls or raises I'm shutting down and check/folding river" but then I shove river kinda thought he could have weak K and maybe fold it out when he called with QQ I was kinda shocked. The more I think about it the more I like it though, because I really don't barrel there with pretty much anything than a set (and I'm not bad enough to call the 3-bet with 33/66 and I most likely 4-bet KK), like Kx I probably check back flop or turn and just try to get 2 streets.
F Paulsson said:
Is AJo profitable in that spot vs a reg for you? I don't typically flat 3-bets with AJo (never OOP and only occasionally IP) so I can't really check. Maybe it's something I should consider to start doing. I flat AQo and AJs IP though. Meh, borderline I guess?
Not against a good reg, but he'd been 3-betting me a ton and AJ is way ahead of a light 3-betting range, especially since if I flop a pair it's likely good and I can pot control it IP and not go broke if I am beat. I think his 3-bet was like 15%, figured if I 4-bet AJ there he folds worse and continues with better so I'll just take a flop and look to flop a pair or make a move. Obviously the move didn't work too well and like I said looking back it does look pretty terrible against anyone with a brain. But he'd shown down in several 3-bet pots against me and QQ was by far the best holding, others included QJ and A5, so I'm confident my AJ is ahead of his range by quite a bit and hopefully he does have something like QJ/A5 so I can extract some value when we both flop pairs.

Sickest freaking soulread/calldown of my life.

Dude is an 80/19/16 and I had been playing on that table for over an hour.
He did these stupid minbets, then when no one reraised he started mad potting every street after that to try to get it down. Usually worked until I had a hand and doubled. Then this.

(Everest)
$25.00 USD NL
Seat 2: rafitaxxxx ( $70.29 USD )
Seat 5: entYy ( $49.05 USD )
HolyBluff posts small blind [$0.15 USD].
Oskarbi posts big blind [$0.25 USD].
Dealt to entYy [ 8c 8s ]
** Dealing down cards **
rafitaxxxx calls [$0.25 USD]
KenVI folds
PTRN_1986 folds
entYy calls [$0.25 USD]
Pelziboy calls [$0.25 USD]
donatekid folds
HolyBluff calls [$0.10 USD]
Oskarbi raises [$1.75 USD]
rafitaxxxx calls [$1.75 USD]
entYy calls [$1.75 USD]
Pelziboy calls [$1.75 USD]
HolyBluff folds
** Dealing Flop ** [ Jh, 9c, 2d ]
Oskarbi checks
rafitaxxxx bets [$0.75 USD]
entYy calls [$0.75 USD]
Pelziboy calls [$0.75 USD]
Oskarbi calls [$0.75 USD]
** Dealing Turn ** [ 7s ]
Oskarbi checks
rafitaxxxx bets [$10.55 USD]
entYy calls [$10.55 USD]
Pelziboy folds
Oskarbi folds
** Dealing River ** [ 3h ]
rafitaxxxx bets [$36.15 USD]
entYy calls [$35.75 USD] and is All-in.
rafitaxxxx shows [Qh, Tc ]
entYy shows [8c, 8s ]
entYy wins $100.85 USD from main pot

Which brings my roll to 1k on Everest 4 days after depositing $600 and just cleared the $50 bonus which is the reason I actually re-deposited in the first place :p.

Played sporadically without a roll most of the since start of 2008.
Deposited and started seriously grinding in October.
So about 16 months total and 8 months serious.

Yeah it definitely didn't feel 100% right.
On the turn after I snap called, I thought fawk what if he has a 9.
Then on the river I sorta went with it.

And no, I tried 4 different ones and none of them work :\.

Why can't an A flop instead of a K? I play the exact same way and pretty sure he does too, how does he call all the way here? Maybe he had a read on me:

Absolute/UB Cereus No-Limit Hold'em, $2.00 BB (6 handed)

Button ($390)
SB ($241.70)
BB ($470.35)
UTG ($370)
MP ($430.58)
Hero (CO) ($243.55)

Preflop: Hero is CO with J

2 folds, Hero bets $6, 1 fold, SB raises to $20, 1 fold, Hero calls $14

Flop: ($42) 6

diamond.gif

SB checks, Hero bets $26, SB calls $26

Turn: ($94) 8

SB checks, Hero bets $55, SB calls $55

River: ($204) 4
spade.gif
(2 players)
SB checks, Hero raises to $142.55 (All-In), SB calls $140.70 (All-In)

Total pot: $485.40 | Rake: $3.50

Results:
SB had Q

(one pair, Queens).
Hero had J
spade.gif
, A
diamond.gif
(high card, Ace).
Outcome: SB won $481.90

I don't even tend to try doing this on 3B pots like this anymore, but i'd often take this line w/ KT+ provided i didn't think villain could check back like KQ/AK here and thought i would bluff/value own myself in a spot like this. When somebody checks and turns their hand face up, i think it is very rare that they do it intending to fold later on. And especially if they are okish and your 3B flatting range is somewhat wide, because there aren't that many hands you have (KQ, AK, KK, AA, 3 of which probably 4B pre) and i think that once these players turn their hands face up they feel obliged to call it off, since i'd imagine the mentality goes something like "my hand is face up, he knows i have TT-QQ or a weak Kx, therefore he is going to try his hardest to bluff me off of it representing AK, therefore i have to call taking this inducing line"
