Besides "SNGS make me want to kill myself", can anyone offer any solid advice?

$5 9 handed STT's...how many BI's do you want?

I also have a ticket to this weekends mini FTOPS $33 Deepstack NLHE event...play the tournament or use it for roll?

1st is 46k. At the same time, if I finish in the top 90, even $240 would be good for me. :)

If you are decent then 20 is more than enough since the play at $5 is atrocious and 9 handed should have lower variance, especially if it isn't turbo. And you should use the $33 for your roll if you are playing $5 sngs

In the same boat, -4 buy-in session after set under set, overpair vs. overpair, TPGK vs. TPTK and of course, AA<Q6 when he flops two pair and rivers a boat. <3 poker. :)

Just read thread through since my last post and its interesting to see nobody apart from rex has played online for like 5+ years. However alot of people have made great progression and success like zach and belgo up at 200nl+.
what is the average growth of a player in terms of cash games do you think ? Is it normal for people to go from 10nl to 100nl in a year or is the average alot longer etc?

Switch could you give me abit of insight at your 100nl experiences?

I've played about 60k hands at each level before moving up. Which means about 2.5 months per level with the volume I play. I think that's not a lot of hands, but that's a reasonable time frame.

That being said, the "normal" thing is for people to never beat the level they play and donate to the few good regs. Profiting and moving up in stakes is not normal in any way.

And then, of course, there's https://www.cardschat.com/f49/irexes-principle-napoleonic-player-116849/

Been playing online for about a year before I created my CC account, so prob just under 5 years. When I started playing cash games I ran from nl$2-nl$100 in just under a year. Cashed out, moved down and back to the verge of nl$200 several times.

Played live for 15 or so years (Jeez Im getting old), some of the biggest games I have played are live ones.

Ah belgo, also you state

"I got an engineering degree and a PhD. Most of the long term winners in this game are seriously good at math and science.

That, and a lot of time spent on learning/playing/analysing.

It's really the same for any type of endeavor. Find something you have some talent for, and then work hard on it. And when it comes to talent, poker - especially online - requires the kind of mind that also excels at math."

Is this for general poker or would you say it is required more as you enter the mid stakes, highstakes or something like 100nl+?
