Calling station imo.

Seriously, though.

Compared to you, Irexes, i'm obviously an aggro spewmonkey. But then again, compared to you, most people are. :D But if you compare my game to zach's, i'm pretty sure i'm indeed a calling station.

From http://www.pokertableratings.com/fulltilt-player-analysis/zachvac/1-2-nl-9 : zachvac goes to Showdown more frequently than 38.3% of the population at $1/$2 NL Hold'Em (9 max)

and http://www.pokertableratings.com/fulltilt-player-analysis/belgosuisse/1-2-nl-9 : BelgoSuisse goes to Showdown more frequently than 60.4% of the population at $1/$2 NL Hold'Em (9 max)

fml, same guy that stacked 27 pre for 160 BB just hits 2 pair vs my overpair in a 4bet pot for a 800 BB pot.
I don't think I'd ever stack an overpair 800bb's deep, even vs. a drooler...

Ordered 1 mirrion hands from handhq.com Everything went well, still importing. All the hands are from the last 10 days or so. Definitely thinking about doing this every time I move up.

Totally worth it, imo if any of you were thinking about it.

Wow Belgo I haven't looked at TR in awhile and looking at it from that link the graph is so far off lol. It had me losing a lot more than I did originally and somehow has me winning recently which is sadly not the case unless you include rakeback :(.

And wow Belgo I've seen your red line go up and all that and just assumed it meant you were super-aggro but apparently I'm more aggro than 89.4% and you're only more aggro than 80.6%. Passive calling station obv.

Seriously buying hands is cheating plain and simple unless a site explicitly allows it. Why don't you actually play the games and adjust better than the opposition and actually learn poker rather than cheat and try to gain the unfair edge by buying info on them.

I was crushing 100NL hard for over 5 BB/100 and I am now on ~200k break even streak. Seriously, don't worry about it. As long as you feel like you are making good decisions that is all that matters.

See #2

Or is this like prostitution, where the transaction of money is what makes it "wrong"?

Edit : this was meant to be a lighthearted ribbing. Sounded more serious when I read it than I intended.

Seriously how am I a hypocrite? Viewing TR is 100% legal and allowed as long as the client isn't open. Buying HHs is 100% downright cheating and honestly I don't see how it's any better than intentionally sneaking peaks at opponents' hole cards live. Poker's a game of information, and you are attempting to gain some unfairly through a means that you agreed not to do. Where do you draw the line? Is collusion ok? Superusers viewing holecards? I just kinda find it a bit unfair if I may be at a game where I only have basic reads on opponents but they have reads on what I do in 3-bet pots after I've cbet a dry flop and an over comes and I don't even know they have these reads to make a counter-adjustment.

You are breaking the rules to gain information that gives you an unfair advantage. Obviously it's not a perfect analogy but it's downright cheating and I don't see how people just shrug it off. I mean I know it happens but I like to think that most people who play poker regularly have some integrity when it comes to this. I guess just take whatever edge you can to take money? Why not just become a mechanic?

the difference is that online HHs are information that is available to anyone who wants it. if you play a hand online, it's understood that every detail of that hand can be recorded in a database. it's understood that anyone could be observing it at any time. someone without HEM or PT, could, in theory, open several tables and painstakingly record the details of every hand that's happened in the "last hand" window whether they played at the table or not. the point is that you're not using any information that results from something that is supposed to be hidden or unseen, so uh yeah it's nothing like your hole cards example

why do you only "earn" the right to use the data if you played in the hand? or is it that you only earn the right to use it if you're observing the table as it takes place? if you open a table on pokerstars, you can go through the past few hands that occurred before you even got there, there's nothing to stop anyone from using that information. so at what point do you draw the line? if you're just drawing the line because the site is opposed to it, that's perfectly reasonable. but it seems that you're of the belief that something is intrinsically wrong with it and i don't necessarily agree with that

weren't you the one who said "the goal of poker is to make money"? obviously there are people who view it the same way, and they're willing to bypass some moral duties in order to have more money, especially because the method of gaining a bigger edge (and winning more money) is available to everyone in the same way poker tracker is available to everyone and is viewed by some as a "form of cheating". as long as its available i don't see how you can fault anyone for buying HHs when it's obvious that there are opponents that buy them as well.

if you could earn $50 more per hour if you bought HHs, you wouldn't do it? it doesn't harm your body, it doesn't harm your friends, it doesn't harm your family, it won't disgrace your name, it won't do anything bad for you until you're no longer able to buy HHs and are forced to go back to what you were doing before. i don't see how you can blame anyone for taking the addition salary, when it's obvious they're just playing poker to make money (and not to get better, be renowned, be theoretically strong at poker, etc.)

PokerStars response about purchasing Hand Histories :

We do not have prohibitions on things we cannot literally enforce. While it is forbidden to datamine on our site, we do not have a prohibition on
buying hand histories.

You have information on people through your HUD and tracker. Not all of these people have that information on you (since not everyone uses a tracker). Does this mean that what you're using is unfair as well? I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I'm curious as to what the big difference between having an edge by having a program that keeps track of stats, and buying hand histories that allow you to get some information on other opponents, even if they don't have that information on you. I guess having a HUD is fine because the hand histories are available to everyone and it's their choice to do what they want with them? All this ethical talk makes my head spin.

Edit: goddamn beaten by like 19 people.

edit: this is also extremely similar to the steroid argument in baseball
