Huge gratz to you WV!!! My cousin had a premie this summer, 4 weeks early. Was in hospital for 4 weeks and sent home with a breathing machine. She's now breathing on her own and doing great! Hope you don't have to wait that long before bringing your new boss home!

Quick update with pic:

They had to put baby Harlan on a respirator last night to control his breathing (he wanted to breathe way to fast). After they put it in the results were immediately great. He rested through the night and during the day today he began to show signs that he wanted it out. So after running a slew of test they removed the respirator and he's now breathing on his own. Still got a ways to go but today was a very good day!

Actually his looks different than most newborns because they attempted (unsuccessfully) a procedure to put little stints in his umbilical cord to draw blood easier because of this he lost the usual stump most newborns would have. But basically it just dries up a falls off.

By the way just came from the NICU and both Mom and I got to hold him for an extended period. They said if all goes well they'll try feeding him tomorrow. He's seems to be doing really well.

I'm glad you mentioned this about the bellybutton. That is one of the first questions I had about his picture "what happened to his stump".

He is a great looking baby - for real. If I see a newborn that is ugly or looks like e.t. than I all I say is "congratulations" and avoid lying about the baby's looks by asking a bunch of questions! LOL!
