i'm quitting guys, been nice meeting you all, prob pop back online every now and then, just cant do this to myself anymore. Seriously sucks being this depressed every time i try and play. Had 3 winning sessions in just over 7 weeks, all for < a buyin. I feel upset and depressed at the end of every session, which is just pointless. Would much rather being doing something with my life which i enjoy.

That's a hell of a downswing but come on, looks like it's your first taste of one. You were running good for the first 200k hands and normal until 260-ish.

lol, blanks can confirm the fact that although i ran above ev for a load of hands, i never at any point have actually ran good in terms of coolers, not once over a decent sample. Even while running above ev, i was down a ton of luck. I also have had a 25 ish buyin swong at sng's and several >10 buyin swongs in that graph, which are a lot considering i play a low variance style, so please don't patronise me

fwiw, ive never said im running worse than anyone ever has ever, since i know my swongs are standard for a lot of people. I've just said that i've had as much bad luck as my mental side can take. But doesn't matter, who needs to look into posts and learn to read when that would just slow you down from making super cool comments that make you look like you own the hood. I actually used to think you had some class and were a decent guy aswell

On the other hand... when someone posts something kinda silly like a graph with a downswing, that otherwise looks like it was painted by God himself, this forum (and especially this thread) will tear him apart like freaking rabid baboons.

Are you seriously only noticing this now that you (or your friend in the case of boumboom) are the target of a little "wake up and look at your freaking awesome graph" slap in the head?

Taking a break is the best, and I'll probably be right there taking a break too. When it's no longer fun, or it starts to affect you away from the tables that's a good sign to stop for a while. I thought that after playing so many hands that the badbeats etc wouldn't bother me anymore, yet they do. It takes longer, maybe I'm getting numb to it, but eventually it does get to me.

On a side note, I found someone who is running at -73ptBB/100.

Honestly, what strikes me as odd in your graph is how consistently you ran for the first 250k hands, not the depth of the downswing at the end.

OTOH, when one of those strikes you, it's totally mind crushing and i feel bad for you. There's no shame in quitting while ahead. On the contrary. And there's no point in playing if you don't enjoy the game anymore.

Switch... in case you can't hear it the whole CC forum is telling you that they understand where you are at emotionally, but from an objective perspective your graph is amazing... this little dip is painful now... meaningless in the grand scheme.

btw, as far as how good switch's graph looks for the first 260k hands or so, i'm confident he totally earned that, and it's not like he was running hot. if anything, i think switch is probably a little bit bigger winner than that but obviously it's hard/impossible to ever know

in 260k hands he made about 13k BBs. which means he made about 5 bbs/100 hands aka 2.5ptbbs/100. that's a pretty standard win rate for a good player at 100NL-200NL. and this is NOT counting his downswing, this is ONLY the pretty looking part of the graph

bottom line is that big ascent is what the graph of a good player with a TAG low variance style tends to look like after they play a couple hundred thousand hands, standard variance included. there are a few ~10 bi downswings throughout but it looks smooth because it's all spread out. so i think the people who are somewhat patronizing him and acting like he must have been running really hot for a quarter million hands are way off-base. it's 2.5BB/100!! that's not the anomaly, the anomaly is the end of the graph ainec

Ye the consistensy is because i play a super low variance style, so i don't experience much swongs. Like a couple of months ago, i posted about my first ever 5 buyin day, just because I have to run super hot to make 5 buyins in a day due to the low variance style. That is why the graph is a nice slope and not all over the place. Thats another reason why the swong is such a backbreaker, since it's not like i have been losing lots of buyins as such, since i rarely play for buyins, its more the fact that i am just slowly losing a little bit each hand. The downswing is also scarily consistent

I imagine ill be back though, i just need like a month off completely away from the game to clear my mind of everything involved. That way i should be able to return with a clear mental approach, and not worrying everytime i start a session

actually if you look at it, all of the low/midstake guys (100nl+) aren't tearing me apart, they feel compassion and are treating me like someone they have known for a while over the world of the internet and is having a super hard time with the mental game. They see past the money and the graphs and stuff, because they understand the mental side, so know what its like. People like BW, Belgo, Slyc, Case, Blanks etc have all been through stages like this, so they understand and are trying to help. The low limit guys who don't have a graph that goes up, don't understand much about poker lifestyles and are jealous (may be a bit of a harsh word and not the 1 i want to use but i can't think of the word i want) I guess are the ones with stuff to say, so um yeah, kinda embarrising i guess
