On the contrary, I thonk I got his point loud and clear.

He wants to know what's happening with the agreed on series of tournaments, 'cause he's unhappy/disappointed/miffed because it's taking a while. The point is pretty clear and selfexplanatory; I merely offered to alleviate ANYONE'S uneasiness by buying up their share of the stake and giving Estelle time, room, or whatever she needs to "get er done" in her own time and her own way. Lots of people around this forum from time to time run up against the incontrovertable fact that sometimes, life intrudes on poker.

So, if you don't wanna take me up on my offer, fine, don't. But don't assume that I "missed the whole point" . Maybe, y'all missed MINE:rolleyes: .

seeing as estelle has already made back all stakeback only a complete moron would have you buy out their shares. Knowing all the backers I dont think there are any complete morons in the group. If they wanted it back why wouldnt they just get the stake-back from estelle?

when you make a backing agreement you should do it in timley matter no matter what "life problems" come in the way. And if you cant do it in said time then you should end backing and give back all monies, that is the correct thing to do, NOT take 4 months to do it. Im fine with it because we never set a time limit to do this in, I didnt think we needed to which is my mistake and I learned from it never to back anyone unless there is a time limit attached.

If I were to do this agreement with anyone but someone like estelle I would be pretty pissed right about now but seeing as its estelle im "ok" with it.

yeah, see that WAS my point to begin with. Y'all know you're gonna make money on your investment, so why keep goin' WTF Estelle,WTF?

i was around for most of the original discussion, and I don't recall anyone imposing time stipulations on this arrangement. Alla you practically fell all over yourselves getting your money in, nobody was imposing any deadlines then.
If I were to do this agreement with anyone but someone like estelle I would be pretty pissed right about now but seeing as its estelle im "ok" with it
^^^^^this, and it was the real point I wanted to make from the first. Why hold Estelle's feet to the fire in public 'cause therer were some delays?
We all know she's been away from home all summer, and obviously busy. If asked to make a list of people 'round here I felt I could/would trust, Estelle would be on it.

I never intended to start a flame war over something I wasn't even involved in. Just thought the point needed making that you gotta take into account who you're dealing with.

I agree and trust me this wont turn into a flame war. The point is though I have never been in a backing agreement that has gone on for months and I think its pretty silly personally. Its my opinion.

I backed estelle because I wanted to show support of her as a regular on the forum. It was never about making money for me. Like I already said I made a mistake by not putting some sort of limit, like maybe this agreement needs to be done this year.

Just finished up the last official $5.50 MTT a few hours ago.

I just need to go through the results that I've been keeping track of to see the actual number. I'll get that up for you probably in a couple days when I get back to the computer I've been saving all this data on.

Yes of course, " probably in a couple days". Or maybe in a couple weeks or longer, who knows.

Congratulations, you have now passed the 100 day mark for the completion and posting of this little venture that you yourself started.

My only wish for the future is that your investors treat you with more respect than you have treated them, though I am sure in some instances this will not be the case.

Perhaps it would have been better if I just posted the word "BUMP" but I chose not to.

i might try to whip up some php reputation system that we can use as a backing tracker type thing in case people want to do this in the future without having to cause CC any grief, and link it from a blog or something

I Think this is a great Idea. And to both Hott Estelle, and Storm,
the momentum generated and a fraternity/sorority like atmosphere...how refreshing.
If my balance was higher and I had read this thread way back when I am most certainly inclined to back some players that have a good track record..$10 bucks just for the thrill is worth it let alone a few extra $ back in my PokerStars account!! I checked on ~OfficialPokerRankings~ and thats enough to convince me that it is a worthwhile proposition.
Somewhere down the Line...where do I sign...(NeverBeg..this is Better and more sound!) IMHO.

I have followed this thread with interest.

IMO Storm and Mojo have every right to be pi**ed off.

On the 2nd Sept Estelle stated that she would provide the feedback to her backers, (in a couple of days).

Well, thats nearly 3 weeks gone and still no news.

:(

They squashed the staking threads almost right after they started. Probably because the mods are wise enough to know that things like this would be a possibility.

I totally gave up on it like months ago.

just for the record I dont like my name linked to this in anyway because it gives backee's a bad name. When I ran mine when I decided I was running too bad to continue I refunded all my backers their money and the ones that didnt want it back I rolled over to another backer agreement that im actually in the procoess of doing right now. As of now I had to take 2 weeks off from the tourneys because of work and all my backers know exactly why im not playing and they know the total duration I will be not playing for. PLUS they know exactly when I will start playing again.

that is how it should be it should not be the backee just disapears for couple months and comes back and says hey guess what finished all your tourneys???? hello wernt we supposed to know exactly when you were playing so we could rail? isnt that part of the fun of backing is getting to watch the player and follow their progress? No offense estelle im sure your a real stand up person but you did this way wrong and hope maybe you learned from this mistake.

Have some Fun - Buy a Horse

Yeah I am an Amateur Pig, Just got here and proud of it...
I read the whole thread but posted after going through page 4 ..blah,blah blah about which part they owned etc..
I know... "It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did..."~Elton John -Your Song

And I also caught wind of the NO Staking Post by Nick. I remeber reading it.
The Idea of Staking some of the 'Better Players' in this Forum is the Community Spirit I am referring to.
And I liked how other posters were inclined to back $10-shares.
It is much better to back someone you are 'comfortable with'
in knowing somewhat more about, by the nature of their posts.
Yet after checking on some of the Official Poker Rankings,
I can see the difficulty that players are going through and that my record is not any worse than some.
I am around 45% Rating and my ROI sucks, but my Buy-ins are consistently on the micro level.
So my profit margin is in the Toilet, but I manage to maintain enough to keep my original deposit 'alive'.
That being said if $10 is trivial to some players then patience pays its due.
And the generosity of some people to want to stake a player they 'believe' in...be it for fun, or encouragement.

*Also keep in mind that Horses do finish the race eventually..whether they Win,Place,Show or ..also ran*

~Like Poker and Life with a Broker, You 'Buy' because they 'Sell'
what you want to hear and in the hopes of making a profit.
But when the stock goes down as does the confidence,
and wanting to sell-out before the rebound
making the game of patience a 'Virtue' in both.
Thinking outside the bubble, before it bursts with you in it
and it all comes crashing down.
Pressure works for cookers, boilers, Beer and Poker..
...but some things cannot, like fine wine, a beautiful Tree, or the spirit of a child.~

~Poker and Broker two together seems odd,
contrary and contrite, they both take risks,
they both have statistics, and ups & downs,
one turns their own investment in themselves into profit,
and the other puts everyone else's investment into a pool as a Prophet.
Control to Hold or Fold are mainstays to both.
And the higher the risk the higher potential pay-out.
The Higher the Stakes, the more focused and aware to the Rakes,
The peaks and valleys on a graph show identical, and the analysis similar.
Hedge Bets or Hedge Funds, they are the same to me,
as the Last card is dealt and the hands are shown,
anticipation makes the stomach weak,
The Final Table, The Final Bell,
at the end of the day there are winners and losers.
To one its a Bad Beat the other a Bad Day.
If the cards come down or the report shows confidence,
then from elation to celebration curtails the disbelief.
I'd rather Play Poker and Broker,
than be Broker Playing Poker.~

here is the part that kinda upsets me in this whole thing.

hott_estelle said:
Played in 15 official MTTs now, 9 more to go.

I've won back the initial investment of $120 that you guys put in, now I'm just playing for some profits for everyone.

Once again, didn't really think I'd be this busy, but I am--sorry.

Anyways, I've gotten back the initial investment of $10 from everyone now, with 9 more MTTs to go for you guys, so it's all profit from here. But I will be busy again this week, and will be able to play a couple more MTTs though.

we went from this....

to this?

I dont doubt you played them but not being able to rail you and cheer you on kinda killed the whole backing thing for me. The $10 I could really care less about or anything you actually made. I back people and take backing A LOT, and I would never imagine not posting before I played in one of my backer tourneys.

you taking so long to play them is not big deal, all you have to do is put a post up saying hey guys I will be away for 2 weeks I have played 9 backer tourneys and have 12 to go or whatever. I will post as soon as I return, doing a multi stake like this takes time but updates on what is going on has to be one of the backee's top prioritys. If you want I can give you a link to one of my other staking threads somewhere else to see how I do it. Once you look at that you can see that I give precise details of any absenses I take.

Appreciate the reply.

Not trying to link the two of you together in the post Storm,
and I agree that the 'Reputation' is important to maintain.
And the stand up thing to do - is forefit the bankroll of Stake Investors and apologize for the inconvenience.
I like the comment about Life gets in the way of our Poker.

I still think it is a great Idea...and what 'joose' had to offer sounded the best in the 'outside' the realm of CC..just barely..
as per the blog initiative.
I also agree that the 'terms' ought to be written out in plain
and simple conditions so that everyone is aware of the details.
And like a registration, or as the EULA's put it..
check box..I Agree to the Terms and conditions under said deal.

If there are people in this forum that want to back other members,
Put out a post to the Blog. Or PM the people that you belive,
will back you and solicit the terms to them via. the blog and report it on there what is happening. For all the backers to receive.
I have seen people rail on PokerStars to some players that are ITM and ask for 'Backing' to such and such tourney.
And have seen it happen. I cannot be certain that they are 'friendly's' or familiar but have observed the chat and seen the begging and the reply and the agreement and the 'Thanks'..you won't regret it.........if I win..
I railed a Tournament Late one night on PokerStars and they were at the Final Table..the Buy-In was in the Low range, but I had observed some players I was at the same table with for a long time, and we chatted about lots of stuff and over-all good game of Poker, a real breath of fresh air in a MTT for sure. Anyway, after I busted out, I railed a few of the table mates I had played against, cheering them on as it were, and as they all busted out... I found myself watching the Final Table.
So I observed - no railing...then came up the discussion of chopping the Prizes. There were 3 players left and none knew how to do it....?? (Huh??)
So I step in and play 'Lee Jones'
and tell them how it is done by chip count and prize ratio,
and approximated the numbers for them.
Then I tell them to email support...and
What?? no one knew how to email support..OMG
So I emailed support for them, gave support the Tourney #
the stake Buy-In and the Players involved requesting a Chop.
I told them I would help..no problem.
I was dismayed that 3 players were talking chop, over $1200 on down, but they were..so I told them that I had emailed support,
and that it usually takes a few minutes for them to get there.
They all said thanks and the 1st & 2nd place players agreed that the winner would give me $10 for the help..
I told them that I was glad to 'Just Help'..and money wasn't a problem but they insisted..WOW!!
...so they got support, made their agreed chop, played it out and sure as that - I got email from PokerStars and the transfer notice.:D

So there's my story from the Rail....hope you enjoyed it!

My only question is does PS have an Ultimate Buddy type system like UB so someone could follow or find Estelle on PS and see if she would respond. After reading all of this (nothing else to do at this time) I would like to know where everyone finished.
