I try to play everyday I can, but it´s not mandatory to play everyday.

This question is for non-professional players who play poker for a hobby.
Roughly how much money do you spend per month on poker (entrants, cash games, post-freerolls, etc.)?
Do you have a fixed budget or is the situation developing spontaneously?
"As a recreational player, I think having a fixed monthly budget is really important. It helps keep poker fun and prevents those moments where you spend more than you originally intended. The exact amount varies from person to person, but I prefer setting aside a specific bankroll for tournaments and cash games each month and treating it as entertainment spending.
When I stick to a budget, I enjoy the game more because I'm focused on making good decisions rather than worrying about the money. If I run well, great. If I use up the budget, I wait until the next month instead of chasing losses.
I'm curious how others approach it. Do you set a monthly poker budget, or do you just deposit whenever you feel like playing?" ♠️💰🃏

It really depends on how seriously you treat poker. For me, I think the biggest mistake is not setting a clear budget and just playing whenever you feel like it. As a hobby, poker can be pretty affordable if you stick to low stakes, home games, or occasional tournaments.

Some players might spend $20–$50 a month just for fun, while others who play regularly could spend a few hundred or more. The important thing is treating it like entertainment money, similar to going out, watching movies, or playing another hobby, and never using money that affects your daily life.

I also think the value isn't only in the money won or lost. A good poker hobby gives you competition, social interaction, and a chance to keep improving. As long as you enjoy the game and stay disciplined with your bankroll, it can be a great hobby.

Very little out-of-pocket! I mostly rely on CardsChat freerolls and small-buy-in micro-stakes ($0.50 – $1.10).
I might deposit $10–$15 every few months if my bankroll completely dries up, but the goal for me is to see how far I can stretch a tiny deposit. Playing low-risk keeps the pressure off so I can focus on improving my game.

No . Nowadays I have no bankroll for poker . I might play freerolls . I played far too many games in the past , wasted far too much time , no satisfactory deserved wining returns , so no need to keep on doing it . Rng destroyed far too many good games of mine , it was clear to me that rng didn't want yo pay me

My blog posts show my wins/losses for my live poker hobby. I have a set bankroll and add/subtract from it as needed. I have no monthly budget for my play.

I am a beginner poker player, so I don't spend any money yet. I only play freerolls to build my bankroll and gain experience.

Been making small but consistent profits since 2024. Making a loss on PokerStars but recouped some of that last week.

I've been pretty much profiting from poker since 2009. And since the ban has come in, it's made it harder for me to do that since I can't play online now. But what I can play online, I'm not losing money. I may have to pay a fee for the subscription, but I've been pretty much making money onto it.

Im trying this to be a second income, im actually taking poker lessons with a Russian poker player, im not trying to be a professional, just to make this a much more profitable game for me, actually i only play on sundays.

It depends quite a bit, but I set myself a limit of around €200 per month if I’m losing. I’m a recreational player, so I try to keep things within a level that I’m comfortable with.

If I’m on an upswing, obviously I don’t need to deposit more. 😄 I also try to stick to similar stakes rather than chasing losses or moving up too quickly.

For me, the main goal is to enjoy the game and keep it sustainable.

i play freeroll and snowballed in a week to a 100 so i dont feel attached to the money
