Poker is evil

If you’re one of those who has convinced yourself that poker isn’t gambling you really should find the problem gambling page on your favorite poker site’s website. Here’s a bit from the Pokerstars site:

Then seriously ask yourself - why do they post this info and these links on their recreational “gaming” site?

Personally I don’t consider poker/gambling to be “evil” all by itself, but in the lives of some people it certainly can be. Just like Guns aren’t “evil” all by themselves either - but in the hands of some people they can create a LOT of misery.

By the way - ever notice what’s at the bottom of the Cardschat homepage?

Poker is a very Evil game if u losing a lot and that money will affect u, if not it´s not an evil game at all.

I’m not sure if poker is gambling or not.

I do think poker has the same effect on the brain as gambling so can and will cause addiction.

Just play to your limits and have fun

I would not equate playing poker with addiction to alcohol or drugs, as they are completely different things!!! If you are heavily dependent on alcohol or drugs and at some point you will not have access to them, then you will feel both moral and physical problems !!! I think that in the case of poker, or more precisely with its absence, you will get off only with moral problems !!!

I don't have a big passion for poker. Because I put myself in poker as an ordinary game but with the opportunity to earn pocket money.

The main thing is not to make deposits and everything will pass.

Not evil if you don't abuse the game. For me it's a hobby, I play for enjoyment, work comes first. Poker is a pleasant recreation.

Evil is a strong word. But poker, like anything that involves betting money, the buzz from winning, that low from losing. The best thing to do, is only play with money you can afford to lose.

I have never heard a dumber word about poker! In some countries, it is recognized as a sport on a par with chess. And at the expense of drugs and alcohol, there is an expression that a pig will find dirt everywhere.

I disagree, people are evil. It all comes down to the decisions we make. I drink alcohol but I am not addicted. I have never tried drugs and I play poker occasionally. Its about the choices we make. If you know you have a problem with self control then stay away from anything that brings pleasure, including sex.

Love your response. I totally agree with you. People can get addicted to anything.

I agree there is a certain amount of luck required on the table although as long as you get it in good or better the long run should reward you. I have had a hard 2 years of bad beats, card dead and unlucky run-outs before I went on a 5 year break. I just couldn't handle the intense draws that beat my Aa/KK against 72 off suited. Especially online is a warzone playing low stakes onder 22$ can certainly feel gambly until the last few tables! The sheer size of online fields also draws in really bad and annoyingly lucky players. If online is fixed I'll leave in the middle. Looking at "Dnegs" running at the wsop it shows that you got to be strong in mind because brutal downswings can take it's toll making you play wrong positions or hands. Keep it straight and don't be afraid to take a break! There is a reason the same people get to the final table over and over again they also get slapped in the face at times it is why this game can be so fun!
If you are having a rough run follow my lead, take a break for a few years just watch online play freerolls and takeu word for it when you feel ready again you will feel very good at the table and have an amazing time again!

Hello Poker fans,

I beg to differ with the attack on the game of poker.

Anything can become an addiction or be evil if the person in question is inclined to disobey moderation rules or go to extremes!

Poker is a sport for some, a source of income for the selected few and a fun game for the masses.

There are those who have very little self-control and squander money in pursuit of their bid payday. Quite frankly, the game needs those players!

Generally, one should look at the player, place blame there, and not 'Poker'; it is just a set of rules that we follow to standardize the playing of the game.

Good luck at the tables and stay away if you cannot control yourself - Poker is not for the undisciplined individual.

That really is for people who get 1000 dollars in wages need 900 for life then load 100 dollar to play a 100 dollar tournament. Some people aren't meant to play poker. They put this so that those people can't pretend the poker sites "forced them to it" but sure everything can be addicting to some people. Honesty to yourself is very important!

I already saw people who got in a coma eating too much chocolate, it's worse than alcohol coma, the key is self control in everything, in excess nothing is good for you, same with poker.

In general, a destructive model of behavior can be characteristic of any person on earth, only the forms and ways of its manifestation will differ.

For many, gambling is a leisure activity that is allocated a certain amount of time and this leisure does not harm his life and the lives of people around him in any way. (and even vice versa - it can be useful as positive emotions).
I will not speak in defense of psychoactive substances, but if a person drinks culturally, for example, once a month and can stop, and does not get drunk until, excuse me, a piglet squeal, then you should also not assume that he has problems with alcohol abuse.

You need to understand that the forms of manifestation are really different. If, because of playing poker, a person does not become aggressive towards others, if he does not change the usual way of life and values, does not worsen personal and family financial situation because of the game, if he does not put it above family relationships and does not become aggressive in case of failures (I mean spoiling things, harming himself or to others), then we can say that this does not apply to the form of manifestation of destruction, in which the intervention of specialists is necessary.🌺🌺🌺

Poker is a game and evil people have turned the game into a business and ruined many lives.

The very notion of the most useful hobby is vague. Because each person has their own personality.
There will be people for whom spending hours on their cell phones playing Candy Crush will be the ideal pastime. For other joinery or knitting. Others spend hours in front of the television watching Big Brother. And there are still those who like video games, chess, dancing, sports...
Here at CardsChat we have a community that likes to spend their time playing Poker, a game that requires training in discipline, strategy and a strong psyche. It really isn't for everyone.
