I'm not going to litter this thread with hands. But it would be really nice if somebody would look through my hand histories of pots where I lost $100+, I can't see straight anymore. PM me if you have time and a strong stomach.
The graph kinda proves that I didn't tilt-stack-off (I admit to making one tilt-shove, but at least I had good folding equity). Excuse me while I go buy three gallons of booze.

Jeez whats going on with the d/swings. Combu and Chris, I mean you guys don't need me to tell you guys, but maybe you do. Take a break, drop down, do whatever until this swingy period ends. Just stop losing at the rate your doing it. Refocus guys.

Saving all of your karma for the team event imo, i wanna be on your team if thats the case :)

I'm no 6-max player Chris so can't pass much in the way of useful comment on hands (particularly the way I approach things at FR which is likely not at all conducive to 6-max).

But do you reckon it's because

a) you've changed something in your game and need to change it back

b) you've changed nothing and it's variance

c) a bit of both?

If it's b) then here's hoping it turns around soon. If a) or c) then any idea what it might be?

All stating the obvious I know but sometimes asking the obvious helps.

For myself just had my 3rd 1k downswing of the month :) and this one barely left a mark on my psyche.

Now to endure a 2k one without flinching.

Ouch Chris - don't blame you for needing a boatload of booze to ease the pain.

But to echo others, just step back, take a break and maybe move down in limits til you can get past it.

Nope, I didn't change a thing. As you can tell from the graph, I didn't lose a ton of big all-ins. I just lost a million small-medium pots (look at my WonSawFlop  and my W$atShowdown  ). My opponents' aggression was absolutely infinite today, and whenever I called them down they had the goods. Never witnessed anything like it.
Good to hear you cope with the swings better than I do :)

Yeah, well, I hate moving down. But if I lose a few more buy-ins I'll have to. Wrong direction, I say. Teh bunny must hop up the hill, not down! :D

Work in progress tbh, but I figure if I'm going to get to where I want to be with Ring games I'm going to need to be bullet-proof to the variance-fairy. I've got there in tournies after a lot of mental toughening, not there yet with ring, but working on it.

Rex's 2 minute-guide to rebuys.

Rebuy immediately.

During rebuy period stack with top-pair kicker bigger than jack .

Stack with any over pair

All in preflop if possible any pair > 99 and AK AQ

Add-on

After first hour

tighten up and play position and strength of hand. C-bet every pot you enter unless you hit hard. Shove big draws.

Pick of small stacks who are panicing.

Only bluff (ie gamble your stack rather than take a small stab at it) if you really, really know they don't have it.

It's also amazing how people will fold to 3rd of a pot bets because you raised preflop.

Near the end
If you get that far let me know

i guess ill get involved in the discussion after reading this thread everyday lol

well i switched to ring games like a month ago and have been loving it however i've hit my first snag so ive got a question

ive been playin $25nl but i think after losing a couple buyins in the past day or so i feel like i should move down and ride out the downswing wave and $10nl but i can' get motivated for those stakes anymore

it isn't as fun and just kills me to play it...any suggestions on how to get out of that mindset (other then the obvious just do it)

too general. are you pro or do u have other income? are you good? do you have the "feel" for HU? most will say minimum 50 buyins for HU, but pro use 100 or more.

^^ Post quoted from 2+2 after someone asked about what a comfortable bankroll is for HU. Maybe i'm not as nearly rolled for 100nl as i thought. Seems i have a long long way to go now that i am technically barely rolled for 50nl :(. Oh how long the long road really is

Two words: Own Them!

P.S.: And remember, if there weren't any luck in poker, you'd win them all.

Well Switch that would make sense as HU variance is f'kin huge imo.

Cheers Chris, I will try to emulate KC's achievements, as I'm playing the $11r in a min.

Rex, short, concise and excellent stuff. I hope to be bugging you at 3-4am tomorrow, now just pm me your mobile no: :p

Played nearly 1100 hands last night. Total profit...35 cents. I felt bad about it until I saw Chris' graph above. That's sickness!
