The only thing I disagree with is the term "sometimes," because patience in poker is a constant, so you could rephrase the statement: patience is always fundamental in poker.

yep the key is patience, but luck is on the other side if get badbeat at the river

Poker can feel like a patience test more than anything else, especially during long stretches where you aren't getting playable hands or when your good decisions aren't immediately rewarded. A lot of players can make the right moves for hours and still walk away losing because of variance.

I think that’s one of the biggest differences between good players and everyone else. It’s not just knowing the strategy, but being able to wait for the right spots and avoid forcing action when nothing is there. The hardest skill in poker is sometimes doing nothing and trusting that better opportunities will come.

In a way, poker teaches you to accept that you can control your decisions, but you can't control the results. That lesson applies far beyond the table.

The hardest part isn't folding garbage—it's resisting the urge to force action out of pure boredom when you're card dead. Staying disciplined through a long dry spell and getting fully paid off when a strong hand finally hits makes all that waiting 100% worth it. Congrats on the big result!

Oh patience, hard for me to be patient at the poker tables nowadays . I can leave the table very easily for the smallest bad luck . I have no patience for crazy hands or fixed hands .

One of the hardest things is staying disciplined and not forcing action just because you feel like you need to play a hand. I think patience is one of the biggest differences between making a good decision and making an emotional one. It’s also important to accept that sometimes you can play well for hours and still walk away losing. For me, learning to stay calm and stick to my strategy has become a big part of enjoying the game.
