Tournament or cash game ?

Online I prefer to play in tournaments. as if talking about a live game, you would choose the same tournament. I like to compete and get the bonus point.

Being new, I've been playing mostly cash games other than freerolls. But I'm starting experiment with the low stakes tournaments and I think I'm starting to see why people like that better. Too soon to tell though.

SNGs

I prefer SNGs to both, but am questioning that. I have a better ROI from cash games but I enjoy SNGs and tourneys more. Thinking of playing more cash games though, because it seems like so many of the SNGs are turbo, and they turn into "sit n shoves" or "shove and go's," blinds go up quickly and variance increases with players at lower stakes just shoving and whoever gets lucky is still standing.

I prefer to stick to tournament games more rewarding making it to final tables. I also find myself making unnecessary decisions in cash games.

It depends. If you can't handle a 6-8 hours poker tournament you can easly have 1-2 hour sessions of cash games. But in the end it's your call. Have fun.:rock::rock:

I really like tournaments, because no one can leave the tournament with the chips he has won. If you play cash games especially the ones with higher blinds it might be, that the player who has won your chips leaves the table and you have no chance winning them back. Another reason why i like tournaments more: the blinds were rising and so does the tension

I'm definately a tournament guy, I always lose my cash money.

Tournaments are like a constant evaluation of where you stand and coming up with strategy to keep you there or move forward and it's not a one time basis like in cash, it's more like "ok I'll get you later" lol

I enjoy playing both, but think that I'm better at tournaments. I have certainly won more playing tournaments than cash games. For some reason I feel more patient in tournaments, and I stay more focused since the blinds are raising, there is a tangible goal, and the players are constantly changing around. Contrastingly in cash games, I lose focus quicker and don't feel like the game has as much of a purpose or tangible goal.

Cash. It's a more relaxed and flexible format compared to tourneys, which run way longer and are sicker-variance as well.

I like playing the odd cash game. They give a welcome relief to the monotony of tournament play. That said I have noticed that sites like Unibet and Party Poker only have 6 max cash tables which I find makes variance much greater so I tend to play cash on Poker Stars where they still have 9 seat ring games.

I personally consider myself a tournament player. although i have played in some cash games, I feel it more of a challenge to play tournaments and try to make it to the final table.

I like to play both...the good thing about cash games is you can rack up player points.The great thing about tourneys is the fact that you can score a big pay for a moderate buy in.

Art and math are actually closely related. At lot of the masters (Van Gogh, Da Vinci, et al) were also brilliant mathematicians and some of the most famous mathematicians were renowned for their art . But I understand your theory, rings games take a different skillset than tournaments. It's funny because it's the same game but also at the same time, starkly different. Personally, my game fits better with tournament poker. It's a mental thing for me. Chips are chips and if I lose them, that's it. In a cash game, money is money. I've tried to think of them as just chips, but I play much more conservative and tight because it is actual money. It's not even that I can't afford to lose my stack because I can... it is just some kind of block. In tournaments I am very aggressive with my play. I just can't seem to duplicate it in ring games.

I prefer tournaments rather than cash games . Everyone who has been in the ITM ladder , he really knows why tournaments are better and exciting , thrilling

Also I have no patience for regular cash games , I would choose (if sb asked me ) zoom games , way more fun for me

I play only tournaments. Playing at the cash tables I get a little bit less if you look at my cashier during the week.

I play tournaments and cash games, if I am going to play and I have a lot of free time, I play many tournaments, and when I don’t have a lot of cash games, I like to play a cash game - in which you win money right away - and in a tournament you can play and sit for 1-2 hours or more and take off from a tournament and get nothing, but many prefer to play only at tournaments!
